Hi guys, welcome to my presentation today. Let
me introduce myself. I'm Huong, a junior at PD,
majoring in English. Currently, I will introduce
to you a very famous historical site in my
hometown: Hai Ba Trung Temple.
Located 25km from Hanoi to the northwest, Hai
Ba Trung Temple which is in Me Linh
commune, Me Linh district, is the largest and
oldest historical temple of two female martyrs/
ˈmɑː.tər/ - national heroes are Trưng Trắc and
Trưng Nhị - who led the uprising to overthrow
the rule of the Eastern/ˈiː.stən/ Hán Dynasty/
ˈdɪ.nơs.ti/ in 40 to 43 (AD) and regain
independence/ˌɪn.dɪˈpen.dəns/,
national
autonomy/o:ˈto:.nə.mi/.
First of all, I will talk about the history of the
founding temple.
Hai Ba Trung are the daughter of the Lạc
general in Me Linh, they are twin sisters.
Growing up, Trưng Trắc married Thi Sách. He
is the son of the general of Chu Diên district.

At that time, our country was colonized/
ˈkɒ.lə.naɪzt/ by the Han Dynasty. In 40 (AD),
Hai Ba Trung raised the flag of solidarity/so.lɪ
ˈde.rə.tt̬i/, calling for heroes/ˈhia.rəʊ/ from all
directions, and the country to stand up to fight
foreign invaders. The uprising was supported
and responded to by people everywhere,

creating a force like a storm.
Wherever Hai Ba Trung's insurgent/ɪnˈsơ.dʒənt/
army went, the Han army broke up there. In just
a short time, the insurgents had recovered the
entire territory of Vietnam at that time; To Dinh
had to come back to the country, ending the
harsh domination of the Eastern Han Dynasty.
After the successful uprising, the country was
liberated/ˈlɪ.bơ.reɪ.tɪd/, Mrs. Trung Trac was
honored by generals and people as King, took
the title of Trưng Nữ Vương, and settled in Mê
Linh.
Although Hai Ba Trung's uprising only brought
independence to the country for nearly three

years, it was of great significance and remained
forever.
Now
According to documents of the relic/ˈrel.ɪk/,
after Hai Ba died on the Hát River (AD 43), to
express gratitude for Hai Ba Trung, the people
of Me Linh built a temple on the river. Over two
thousand years of existence/ɪɡˈzɪs.təns/, the
temple has undergone many ups and downs in
history.
