ASSIGNMENT 1
SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING
The concept of Social Media Marketing (SMM) is the application of social media and digital platforms to market
businesses’ products and services. With 65% of the eligible population having access to social media nowadays, there is a

whole world of potential customers that businesses can expose to regardless of their large or small scale business model.
In particular, 70% of shoppers use Instagram to find their next purchase (Instagram, n.d.). Thus, there is no doubt that
businesses should have their brand promoted on social media, or else they will miss an enormous opportunity for their
trade. According to Brynley-Jones (2020), SMM has occupied £88.000 to £500.000 of businesses’ marketing budgets,
which remains optimistic and is expected to rise by 89% over the next five years. Likewise, Statista (2021) indicated that
91.9 percent of U.S. marketers in companies with more than 100 employees were expected to use social media for
marketing purposes in 2021. In terms of how to apply social media to marketing, companies can simply post content,
images, or videos of the products for free on their social media accounts. Social media can offer a huge chance to discover
new trends and ideas, connect with new and existing customers, transfer strangers to friends and from friends to
customers, and thus drive attention and traffic to their brand. One of the typical successes of SMM is Lifebuoy. Lifebuoy the oldest brand of Unilever group - has made the most out of social media to spread their message "F.I.G.H.T" in this
COVID-19 pandemic, attached with other strategies. It has been successful in relocating its brand as a world-class
sanitizer. Apart from large-scale companies, many individuals can also self-publish by commencing their Youtube channel
or writing blogs to share their stories, life experiences, or becoming recognized as an expert in their field. This makes

them popular for serving business purposes.

ASSIGNMENT 1
THE CUSTOMER IS ALWAYS RIGHT
SMM is a wonderful tool for businesses to enhance their customers’ satisfaction. Since marketers do not just literally introduce their
products, talk about how great their brand is, or what they have for sale, they also have to focus on the quality. Their products have to
meet consumers’ needs and pain points, thus reflecting their own style and creating convictions. Strong connections between customers
and businesses are solidified by benefiting from SMM. Thanks to social media equipment, digital marketers can get a better insight into
their targeted customers' purchasing behavior among other things: what they want to buy, and their reactions to marketing campaigns.
Based on social media metrics, they can conduct audience research to regularly keep track of the results and narrow their focus while
expanding their reach. Another point worth mentioning is that these metrics help to assess how well they are accomplishing their goals
in the social space and provide insight into where they can modify their campaign (BrightEdge, n.d.). On top of that, consumers and
potential consumers can be supported, connected, and communicated with 24/7 by agency services anywhere. These help businesses to
concretize customers’ satisfaction and loyalty to the brand, thus acquiring a greater reputation and boosting their brand. Some critics
may argue that online marketing is not credible and reliable. Consumers’ level of satisfaction might decrease since their private
information might be leaked or used for business purposes, thus bringing about annoying problems for them. However, this argument is
not persuasive as every business is mandatory to operate security and privacy policies. These policies explicitly describe and ask them

whether this information is confidential or able to be shared with or sold to third parties. According to Kumar et al. (2018), considering
privacy regulations will also ensure that customers have solid trust with the company and the third parties that provide additional
services, resulting in a high rate of product consumption. In conclusion, social media marketing does wonders for consolidating
people’s loyalty and prestige to business brands, and with companies’ policies for customers, their satisfaction will be secured.

ASSIGNMENT 3

ASSIGNMENT 4
Debate
Topic debate: Plastic should be banned

(Proposition Team)
Introduction
- Introduce the topic: Plastic should be banned
- The use of plastic in daily life is exerting a detrimental effects on body and health of humans
2 reasons:
1. Plastics can contain poisonous chemical elements.
2. Its capacity to be easily consumed.
- Direct toxicity from plastics comes from lead, mercury and types of toxic plastics are BPA which is greatest
concern to human health.
- These toxins have also been found in many fish in the ocean and food packaging materials which cause cancers,
immune system problems, childhood development issues, nerve and brain damage.
- An exact outline of health effects of plastics on humans is almost impossible to determine and there are almost
no unexposed subjects.
Example: In 2020, researchers from University of Newcastle, Australia, and World Wide Fund for Nature have
concluded that people consume 0.1 grams to 5 grams of microplastic per person per week
=> every 10 years, 2.5kg of plastic from common food and beverages like seafood, beer, salt, drinking water have
been consumed by each person = enormous amount of plastic that we human consume subconsciously
=> a huge threat to human health.
