ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
First, I considered myself lucky to have been given this opportunity to do the
internship in a professional working environment at the Department of Agriculture and
Rural Development. I really embrace my eight - week internship here as I got lots of
chances to work on my interpretation and translation skills, and improved my English. I
also gained so many working experiences and soft skills.
Second, I would love to express my deepest gratitude to Ms. Trang (my instructor
who works at the department) and my teacher (Ms. Hue). Although they were very busy
working, they always took some time to assign tasks for me and the other interns and
guided us to successfully complete the tasks. In addition, they gave me a lot of advice and
feedback on my work. They created environments which allowed me to put my English
into practice. I want to thank them for their precious guidance and instruction for me
throughout my internship.
I will put more effort to utilize my skills and knowledge in the best possible way,
especially when I apply for a job. I will constantly improve myself in order to attain the
desired career. Importantly, the internship helped me to be able to picture what I would
like to do in the future.

ABSTRACT
Internship provides students real life experiences that they may not have in their
university and it is also a valuable time for university students to get to deal with problems
at workplace, this also gives students the opportunity to apply knowledge they have

learned from books into real life situations. I am very delighted to have this opportunity to
do my internship at An Giang Provincial Department of Agriculture and Rural
Development, I really value this life time opportunity.
An Giang is famous for agriculture, and has successfully proved its strengths in this
sector compared to other provinces in the region. An Giang alone has brought substantial
economic value by its innovations in agriculture. However, An Giang is not recognized for
its agriculture wealth, which is such a disadvantage for our province. That was one of the
reasons why I was very excited to have this opportunity to work for An Giang Department
of Agriculture and Rural Development.
This report concerns my internship of a
s degree program in English
Language that took place at An Giang Department of Agriculture and Rural Development.
This report is divided into five parts and the purpose of this is to elaborate on what I did
and learned during my internship. The first part of this report is an overview of An Giang
Department of Agriculture and Rural Development, including the background, working
hours, function and system. The second part focuses on my internship experience. Finally,
with the other parts, I present the summary of my internship and some recommendations
for An Giang University to successfully implement internship programs, and also mention
references and appendixes.

What I learned from these tasks:
I did a lot of designing with tasks of making posters and this required a lot of
creativity. I learned to film and did a lot of editing for videos. Through these
tasks, I have improved my software skills a lot.
I was asked to work in pairs and groups for those tasks most of the time, so I
have learned a lot from the other interns. Therefore I have been able to improve
my teamwork skills.
I was given a lot of opportunities to give presentations. I have got helpful
feedback and advice from my teacher and instructor on how to improve my
presentation skills.
I have learned to write workshop plan, letter, and project proposal. I have done a
lot of research about how to write these documents. I was able to complete
these writing tasks before the deadlines. I have also learned to deal with
deadlines and new tasks.
I have learned to write a CV. My instructor pointed out mistakes in my CV and
helped me to correct them.

It was an exhilarating experience to visit Phan Nam Farm, I have learned a lot
from my interpretation at the farm. I have learned more technical terms in
agriculture and have also learned communication skills.
II . MY EXPERIENCE WITH TRANSLATION AND INTERPRETATION TASKS
My main role at the department was to translate and interpret. I learned to
translate different types of documents from projects, plans to magazines. I had my
skills of interpretation improved significantly. When working on my translation
tasks, I have had to learn to format a lot of administrative documents. I have also
been able to practice working with software tools through editing videos, creating
content, designing posters that I had not done a lot at university.
There were so many specialized vocabulary words in the field of agriculture and
administration I did not know, so it took me so much time to do the tasks.
Translation tasks also required me to put on a lot of focus so that I could get the
tasks finished before deadline. These tasks trained me to become more agile,
focused and resilient.
Ms. Trang has many experiences in translating and interpreting in the field of
agriculture. As an intern, I found ways to learn from her as much possible. She
gave me lots of feedback on my translation and interpretation tasks. The first task
of translation was a bit challenging because I got to translate administrative
documents and they were so new to me. However, under
, I eventually got all of my translation tasks completed.
In addition, I was also given many opportunities to practice interpreting. I
participated in interpreting presentations, and tours to Phan Nam Farm and all was
great experiences. I met a lot of difficulties and obstacles during my performance of
interpretation tasks; for example, at first I was not able to memorize much
information at once in a short amount of time, so I asked the speaker to repeat what
they had just said for many times; I just made the same mistakes again and again,
which was considered unprofessional. After a few times practicing interpreting, I
was able to correct those mistakes and have gained so much confidence with my
interpretation. I have also enhanced my knowledge in English as I had to learn a lot

of technical terms about agriculture to finish the tasks and learn other related skills
such as interpersonal, communication and software skills.

Another memorable experience with interpretation was a field trip to Phan
NamFarm, the other interns and I practiced interpreting with our teacher and
instructor. As my instructor at the department wanted us to improve our
interpretation skills, she gave us this great opportunity.
III.

PRESENTATION, WRITING, AND ADVERTISEMENT POSTER
DESIGNING TASKS
First, I was assigned to write a lot of administrative documents such as
letters, workshop plans, and project proposals. Those tasks were very difficult for
me as I did not have any knowledge about it. Therefore, I have done a lot of
research for reference on the Internet to find similar formats and content to get the
ideas to write those documents. Even though those documents were not long but
they took me such a long time to complete.
Second, I was also asked to present my own written documents in front of
the other interns, my teacher, instructor and cadre employees at the department.
After each presentation, I received a lot of useful feedback from my instructor and
teacher. I was told that I was very nervous and less confident while giving
presentations, and my skills of giving presentations were not strong enough. The
feedback was very important to me, it helped me know what my strong points and
what are my weak points are so that I can work on them more.
I also performed a lot of tasks involving creating and writing content such as
letter of interest, projects proposals, and workshop plan. Moreover, I did a lot of
designing with advertisement posters. This is the most interesting task for me as I
love to work with things which require creativity. I met a lot of difficulties
designing these posters as I was not very good at softw are skills. So, every time I

had to use new tools on Word or PowerPoint documents, I googled it. Although it
was a bit difficult and frustrating, it was great that I have been able to improve my
computer skills a lot. The other interns and I were helped by two information
technology technicians at the department. I have learned so many skills about
designing and editing photos and videos. These tasks have helped me to improve
my creativity a lot, and learn to respond quickly and effectively to new tasks. I have
also learned to deal with deadlines and work with intense concentration, which I
was not able to learn at university.
