1. I’m glad you like learning English. Your teacher
sounds really nice – and you friends to do too! Tell
me all about your English classes.
I am so happy to hear from you. As you know, I have
attended to an English class lately. I am very interested
in learning English because it is useful for my job.
My teacher is Mrs… who is very energetic and have a
good sense of humor. She knows lots. She shares her
knowledge and experience freely. She knows how to
make the lesson interesting and has a good menthod of
teaching English
There are 30 students in my class with many different
ages. In spite of our age distance, we still have ability
to work harmoniously together. We usually play games
about previous lessons so we have many chances to
talk with each others in English, of course.
I love my teacher and and all the people in my English
class. Sadly, we will not stay together for long since
we will all go our separate ways after the final exams.

2. I’ve just seen a brilliant program about dolphin
on television. Which program have you enjoyed
recently? How much television do you watch?
Mẫu 1: It was lovely to hear from you. I watch 4 hours
of television each day. I have been watching The
Sopranos lately. I did not get into it when it was
actually on air, and I certianly didn't understand all the
hype. Until my sister and I made an agreement that we
would each pick shows to watch on tv and watch them
together. I picked Game Of Thrones and she picked

The Sopranos. After the first episode I didn't think I
was going to like it, but now I absolutely love it. We
have made it through season 5 and just waiting for
season 6. I can't wait to see next season.
Mẫu 2: There are many intersting programs on TV
nowadays. For example new, sports, movies and
gameshow. But I like the evening news most.
The program is it 7p.m on VTV everday. It often lasts
45 minutes. In the program there is a lot of new
information about VN and the world. They are news
stories about everyday life economy, politics, sports
and weather forecost. Thanks to the program, I can
update with everything going on in our country and all
over the world. Also, I like watching the evening news
because I really like the presenter Quang Minh. He
looks smart. He has a warm voice.
Watching this program makes me well informed and
relaxed after a hard working day.
Mẫu 3: Among many programs and channels available
on TV these days such as the current news programs,
sport programs, entertaining programs, educational
programs and movie programs, etc., I like the program
“the World of Animals” most.
This program is usually shown on VTV2 everyday at
8.30 in the evening. It often lasts about 45 minutes. In
this program, stories of the life of many animals in the
world are told in a very lively way. For example,
people can watch films about monkeys, snakes, tigers,
insects, birds, sea turtles, sharks etc. … and even the
penguins and the polar bears in the far North. While

watching these films, I find the everyday life activities
and habits of these animals very interesting and full
mysteries. In addition, I also learn that it is very
important to protect these animals and their living
environments because they are part of our valuable
natural world. Watching this program makes me very
well informed and relaxed after a day of work.

3. I went to a live concert last night with my friends.
It was great! Do you often go to concerts? What
kinds of music do you like listening to? Who is your
favourite singer? Tell me all about it.
Mẫu 1: How are you? It is so nice to hear from you. I
love rock music. Since all my favorite rock bands is
overseas and my country is hardly on their concert
tours, I try to get out and support local artists in my
area as money expenes allow. My favorite singer is in
Guns n’ Roses, a rock and roll band. His name is Axl
Rose. He still look fanstastic at the age of 50. I can tell
you that I am his biggest fan in the world. His lyrics
are some of the most intense and emotionally raw I
have ever heard. His voice makes me feel warm inside.
I wish I can see him in real life someday.
Mẫu 2:Last night, I went to a live concert with my
friends. It was a Linkin Park concert. I extremely like
Rock music and Linkin Park is my favorite Rock band.

I was in the middle section of the crowd. In front of us
were these girls who jumped and sang with the lyrics.
Much as the same as I did, I screamed, laughed,
clapped, jumped, to any song that I loved. We were in
the middle section of the venue; we saw everything
from the screens on the left and right side of the stage,
including a smaller screen at the top. The stage was
wide, full of lights and lamps. The bass and sound
would be thumping through the crowd as if it were our
own hearts beating to the music. The bass would
vibrate in our bodies but, we didn't care we were
having fun. Therefore, whenever I feel sad, listening to
rock music blows away all sadness and I have become
more power and stronger. It was outside that's why it
probably wasn't bad.

4. I know you often play sports at weekends. What’s
you favourite sport? Tell me about it!
Thank you for writing to me. As you know, I often
play sports at weekends and my favorite sport is
swimming. Swimming has been my favourite sport
since I was very small. I learnt to swim when I was just
5 years old. Swimming is truly the best way to work
out because the whole body is worked. It’s always the
sport that keep me fit and healthy. It’s so much fun
when I go to the pool with my family at weekends. I
teach my little sister how to swim and then we play
water basketball game. After swimming, all the stress
quickly go away so I can start a new week in a good
mode.

5. We had dinner at a new restaurant yesterday. It
was great! How often do you eat out? What’s you
favourite restaurant like?
Mẫu 1: It was lovely to hear from you my dear. I often
eat out with my family on public holidays. My favorite
restaurant is Milan-restaurant, on Nghi Tam Street.
The restaurant is built on the big land near Ho Tay -
one of the most popular places in Ha Noi. The main
dish is bake meat with hot sauce and fresh vegetables
which is very delicious. The interiors almost are
wood's material. I like this style as it make me feel
relax and nearly with nature. It also have plants at
corners and a vase on each table with lovely flowers.
Furthermore, the atmosphere is nice, its services are
good, the prices are reasonable and the sights are
beautiful.
Mẫu 2: Food has always been an item of high priority
mainly because it is one of the basic needs of man
apart from shelter and clothing. It is evident from the
literatures that man has always been keen to have
proper food and in its quest he has discovered a wide
variety of food items. It is true that some people prefer
to eat at food stands or restaurants whereas other
prefers to prepare and eat at home. I had dinner at a
new restaurant yesterdays and it was great. The food
was so delicious. Moreover, the services was so
quickly and professional. I rarely eat out because it
will be paid ten times or more money than eat at home.
Maybe this money will be enough to support my food

for one week at home. Whenever I go to a restaurant, I
always choose restaurant where available from burgers
to Asian food like Sen Restaurant or Ngon Restaurant.
Because the atmosphere is cozy and the price is
reasonable for me. Therefore, I always eat out at big
events with my family such as birthday party or
anniversary.

6. I know you’re just moved to a new house. In your
next letter, would you describe it to me?
Mẫu 1: Thanks for writing to me my dear. I moved to
my new house 4 days ago. This is the house that I’ve
ever dreamed of. Its outside the town with a lot of
trees, fresh air surrounding the area that we can never
have if we live in the city. My house has 3 floors with
2 bedrooms and 1 bathroom. The first floor consists of

a living room and a kitchen. The second floor consists
of 2 bedrooms and a bathroom. The lower ground floor
consists of laundry area and storage. But the best part
of the house is my lovely garden which has many
different types of plants. It looks gorgeous with lush
green grass and lots of wildflowers. I am so happy to
have it! You should totally come to visit me when you
have time.
Mẫu 2: Perhaps you know that I have just move to Ha
Dong province, Viet Nam where is near my parents
house. I was very glad to find there a pleasant change
from the noisy, crowded city life. My house is open on
all four sides, surrounded by fruit gardens and green
fields.
I was glad to take my breath in the fresh air while
playing with my cousins and their friends. I spent some
time everyday in swimming in the nearby stream and
thus I enjoyed very much. I was very much pleased
with the life in the province where everyone was so
good to me. I enjoyed the traditional foods, home-
made delicious sweets and many types of fruits.
It would be great if you could spend your weekend to
visit my new house. I strongly believe that you will
feel excited with everything here.
Mẫu 3: I live in a house in Hanoi/ Hai Phong… The
house is in a small and quiet street in ………… district
of Hanoi/…It takes about half an hout to go to the city
center. The house was built 5 years ago. It isn’t a big
house and has two floors.
In my house there are 4 main rooms: a living room, a

dining rooms, two bedrooms. Besides, we have a
kitchen, a bathroom and a toilet.
We have a little but pretty garden; my family often
spend our free time there to grow plant and vegetables.
Next to the garden there is a small yard where my
children often play after school.
In my house, I like the living room is my favorite one.
This room was painted light green, so we feel very
pleasant. In this room, there is a tea table, a sofa and a
television. On the wall there is a couple of oil
paintings. After dinner, our family often spend time
together talking to each other or watching a favorite
TV program. We often receive our guests in this room.
I love my house. Everyday when I come back home
from work, I have a warm feeling of being together
with my whole family.

7. I know you’re just come back from holiday. Tell
me about the holiday and whether you enjoyed it!
I hope you and your family are well. Last summer, me
and my family maked a trip to Ha Long Bay. When we
arrived, it was about 8.30 am. Although everyone were
very tired, we were happy because of the fresh air
surrouding the area. On the first day, we went to the
beach for swimming and sunbathing. After swimming,
my mom walked along the beach, I collected the
seashells and my sisters built sand castles. Then we
had delicious lunch with seafood. In the afternoon, it
was sunny but in the evening, the wind blew strongly
that we felt a bit cool. On the second day, we went to

the souvenir stores to buy some gifts for our relatives
and friends. then we walked on the pavement to watch
the sight. On the last day, we went to the beach again
and took some photos. Then we packed our bags and
go home. After the trip, everyone was very excited. I
am looking forward to having a wonderful holiday like
that again.

8. You went to a party last weekend, didn’t you?
Did you have a good time there? Tell me about
party!
Dear I received your letter explaining your inability to
come here on a party last weekend. As you know, I and
my friends had a celebrated 29
th
June. In your absence,
it was truly a memorable occasion for me. The party
was so fun and I had a good time there.
The central hall of party was beautifully decorated.
New curtains, flower-pots and the furniture looked
lovely. I bought all necessary things from the market.
We invited all our close friends and relatives.
I cut the cake after blowing the candles. Everyone sang
a lot of songs. Tasty dishes, including hot tea and
coffee were served. Everyone enjoyed the party. The
guests dressed so beautiful and modern. We played
some interesting game and danced all night. I enjoyed
the party a lot.
Oh! How I missed you on that day! But you had your
compulsions. Anyway, please convey my regards to

your parents.

9. In your next letter, could you give me some
advice? Tell me how you keep fit and healthy!
Mẫu 1: I am so glad to hear that you want some advice
from me. First action to keep fit and healthy is that you
should eat healthier. That means lots of fruits,
vegetables, and protein. You should cut down on red
meat, junk foods, caffeine, and sugar intake. Avoid
soft drinks or canned fruit juices. Next will be exercise
of course. You don't have to run for hours, or spend
several hours at a gym, or playing football or tennis, or
riding a bike. You can start by doing simple exercises.
Remember, simple but really important. The last one
should be your timetable. Try not to work late and eat
before 7pm. That’s all advices I can give to you. I hope
it will help.
Mẫu 2:
I feel like such a long time since the last time I saw
you. I was in the same situation you are a few years
ago. But now, as you saw, I am fitter and healthier
more than last time we met. Here are some of my
experiences and advices which may help you a lot.
I spend two hours all the morning at California Fitness
and Yoga Centre where provides world class fitness
services and products. Since 1 month I have been
there, I lost a few pounds and feel much stronger. The

best thing for you to do is doing some exercises. I
think if you have time, you should join with me to feel
limber.
Nutrition is also very important. To be healthy, I eat a
lot of fruit and drink 2 liters of water every day. I
strongly advise you to eat nutritive meals and not to eat
too much at dinner. Vegetable is rich of vitamins and
minerals which help a lot to keep body fit.
So, I’m sure that if you follow my advice, you will see
that everything will work out. I hope the summer’s
been going well for you. There is only a month in
summer vacation and after that it is back to school.

10. I’m glad you like your job. In your next letter,
tell me about it!
Mẫu 1: It was lovely to hear from you recently my
dear. I has been a sales assistant at the fashion and
clothing retail chain Boo for 4 months. Of course there
are so much things I have to learn because I had never

been a sales assistant before but now when I get used
to it, I really enjoy my job. My daily routines start with
making sure that all stock is on display. When
customers come in, I help them find products they are
looking for or give information about the features,
quality and availability of different products. And if
necessary, I’ll give in-depth technical advice about
products. I’ll make sure that the customer aware of any
special offers. Furthermore, the atmosphere in here is
good and everybody seems so nice. I am really happy
with this job.
Mẫu 2: Do you remember the last time we spoke and I
told you that I had been invited for a second interview
at FPT Corporation? Well, they were really impressed
with my portfolio so they hired me. The package was
too good to refuse. I will be getting double the salary,
plus commission. The working hours are also better
than my previous job. What is more, the two hour
journey to my previous job was really draining so it’s
great that I can now walk to the office.
As I’ve been given the title of Creative Director, it is
my responsibility to come up with new concepts for
our clients’ advertising campaigns. I have a team of
five members to manage and the accounts of large
clients. I will be in charge from the initial idea all the
way through to the final product.
The new job is pressure but I love it so much. In this
weekend, I and my family have plan to go to your
hometown. Would you like to meet up and show me
some interesting places?

in a company /…… in Hanoi. My company name is
………………. I have had this job for more than 10
years. In my job, I am in charge of managing our
department’s activities such as research development,
technical supervision and maintenance…. Besides, we

in the company in order to run the company’s business
smoothly.
To do this job besides my university degree, I have had
many training classes in project management, product
development, marketing, etc…

In addition, the skills required for this job are
communication, time management, teamwork and
presentation skills, etc…
I really like my job because I am able to apply the
knowledge and skills of the filed I studied in my work.
In addition, I have a flexible working time, so I can
make full use of the time in the office and have time
for research. Also, I am lucky to work with a very
active and supportive staff. One thing I don’t like
about this job is that I often have to travel, so I
sometimes don’t have time for my family. I am
planning to further my study to get a doctor degree.

chemical company.

I’ve been working for this company since I finished
Master. In this company, I’m in charge of analysing oil
samples in the lab. To do this job, I must be trained in
petro chemical. Beside you need a good E skill.
This job requuies some skills, suchs as analysing and
evaluating skill, a good knowleage at chemitry to meet
different kind of people and have friendly many
foreign countries and have a high salary. That’ all the
best things about my jobs.
The only thing I don’t like about my job is that my
working enviroment is hamful to my health and
sometimes, I have to work at weekend.
I hope in future pomoted and to get higher salary.

11. In your last letter, you said you had some close
friend. Tell me about one of your close friends!
Mẫu 1: I am writing this letter to tell you about Nam,
one of my close friends. Nam’s family is not rich
enough. His parents are retired workers. Realizing the
hardships of his parents, although he is absorbed in his
study, he often spends most of his spare time doing
useful things to help his parents in their old age. He
gets up early in the morning to have enough time to
deliver newspapers to subscribers before going to
school. After school in the afternoon, he repairs
bicycles and motorbikes. Therefore the money he gets
from his manual job is sufficient for his school fees
and for his parents’ presents. I like Nam very much
because of his honesty and straight forwardness. He is
always ready to help his weak friends in their study; as
a result, lots of friends, thanks to his whole-hearted
help, have become good ones. In my relation with
Nam, I have got precious experience: thirst for
learning, patience to overcome difficulties, helpfulness
and filial piety.
Mẫu 2: I have had many friends so far, but Thanh Nga
is one of my close friends. Nga is about 30 years old
and is now working a researcher at an institute in
Hanoi. We met each other when we were in the
secondary school. During those days, we went to
school together everyday, studied in the same class

and shared with each other all the joys and sorrow, so
we have become close friends since then.
My friend Nga is not very tall, but pretty with long
black hair and a nice smile. She is a very sincere,
modest and helpful person. She likes painting and
painted many pictures. Also, I can still remember that
Nga was very good at literature and foreign languages.
We often meet each other when we have time. When
we are very busy, we often talk to each other on the
phone or we chat on the Internet. Whenever we meet,
we often go to see other friends, go shopping or sit in a
quite place to have coffee. We talk about our life and
share with each other our good news or problems and
see if we can help each other. Nga is really a good
friend of mine, a friend for life.

12. I know you often go to the cinema. Tell me
about the last film you saw and whether you enjoy
it.
It is nice to hear from you my dear. The last film I saw
was War Horse. It is an epic war film directed by
Steven Spielberg. The main characters are Jeremy
Irvine, Emily Watson and David Thewlis. War Horse

is the epic story of a friendship between a horse named
Joey and a young man called Albert. Jeremy Irvine as
Young Albert enlists to serve in World War I after his
beloved horse (Joey) is sold to the cavalry. Albert's
hopeful journey takes him out of England and across
Europe as the war rages on. This movie is a tale of
loyalty, hope and tenacity set against a sweeping
canvas of rural England and Europe during the First
World War. I enjoyed it very much because of its
famous director and the happy ending. You should
totally watch this movie when you have time.

13. Could you give me some advice? I’m going to
spend my next summer holiday in your country.
Where should I go? What should I see?
I'm glad to hear that you are spending a holiday in my
country. I'm willing to be your tour guide. I'm sure that
when your holiday is over, you will back home and
bring home some unforgettable memories about Viet
Nam and Ha Noi.
You will have opportunities to visit some of the best
place attractions in Ha noi such as Ho Tay, Kim Lien
pagoda, Ethnology museum First of all I want to
introduce you to Ho Chi Minh museum. This is my
national pride. Then we will visit Ho Guom which is in
the center of Ha noi and very romantic, peaceful. Ha
noi has thirty six streets and districts. This is the place
I want to take you to. We'll taste many traditional
Vietnamese food like Pho, La Vong fried fish, Ho Tay
sprim cake and many more I know that you like

learning history, so this'll be an interesting travel.
However, the summer in Viet nam, the weather is very
hot. You should bring thin clothes, suntan cream. Don't
forget bring camera, you'll want to take many
photographs. I welcome you to stay at my home.







14. In your next letter, tell me about a teacher from
your past that you remember!
The teacher that I always remember is my first grade
teacher, Ms.Bich. She has long black hair and she is a
kind hearted woman. First grade was the year that I
learned a lot of things and my teacher was always very
encouraging. She would tell the class to do their best,
and she had fun ways for us to understand new
concepts. She was always very kind to the class, and
would answer all the questions we asked. I have kept
the advice that she gave us and still strive to do my
absolute best in all that I do. I am very grateful for all
that I learned from her, and that it has influenced me so
much.

15. It’s so wet here! Can you describe the weather
in your country? What’s the weather like at the
moment? What outdoor activities are you able to do

at this time of the year? Tell me about it.
The North of Viet Nam has a tropical climate. There
are 4 seasons: Spring, summer, autumn and winter.
The summer is very hot. The winter is very cold and
windy. Spring is wet and autumn is cool. It’s spring
now. It’s not very cold. The average temperature is
about 25
o
C, but it’s very wet and humid with fine rain.
Sometimes, it’s windy. There are few sunny days.
We often go to temple and pagodas at this time of the
year. We pray god to bring us a lucky and happy new
year.
I like autumn best because it is cool and sunny. I fell
comfortable.
