Unit 8: OUT AND ABOUT
Lesson 1( A1 )

I. Objectives:
- By the end of the lesson, the Ss will be able to use the present progressive
positive statements with I / She / He to talk about actions happening now.
II.Language contents:
- Grammar: The present progressive tense.
- Vocabulary: video game, ride, drive, wait.
III. Techniques: slap the board, word cue drill, noughts and crosses, pair works,
group works.
IV. Teaching aids: lesson plan, textbook, pictures page 82 and cassette.
V. Time: Allotted 45 minutes.
VI. Procedures:
1. Warm up (5’) Hangman
MOTORBIKE
2. Check up (3’) answer the question
What time do you go to school?
How do you go to school?



3. New lesson (37’)
Teacher's activities Contents T
Lead in:
- Ask students some questions:
What do you do after school?
What about you? Do you watch TV after
school?
How about now? What are you doing
now? We come to Unit 8 ( A1)


- The first we come to vocabulary.
- Elicit to teach vocabulary.
- Control students to practice vocabulary.
- Check vocabulary.( slap the board )

- Fix the pictures ( three pictures )
- Ask Ss to look at the pictures a,b,c.
- Ask: what is this student doing?
- Have the Ss look at the pictures and
explain about actions happening now:
Ex: playing video games, riding a bike.
- Have Ss listen to the tape and repeat.
- Call Ss to read again.
I. Presentation:
1. Vocabulary.

- (to) play video games: chơi trò chơi điện
tử
- (to) ride a bike: đi xe đạp
- (to) drive a car: lái xe ô tô.

- (to) wait for : đợi chờ
2. Model sentences
- I am playing games.
(I'm)
- He/She is riding a bike
He’s/ She’s driving

(+) Form: S + be + V.ing.
Am/is/are

(+)Use: Present Progressive is expressed
the actions happaing now.
Eg: What are you doing?

- Give the model sentences.


- Run through all word cues drill.

- Model the first cue.


- Have Ss practice the next cues.


- Have Ss copy down.



-Write some words on the board and ask
Ss to make sentences.

- Have Ss go to the board and do.

- Correct the mistakes.

- Give the corrections.
- I'm waiting for my teacher.

II. Practice:
Word cue drill:
1. walk to school
2. drive a car
3. ride a bike
4. wait for a bus
5. play video games
6. travel by bus
Example Statements:
1. I’m walking to school.
2. He’s driving a car.

III. Production:


a. I / go /school.
b. She /walk / work.
c. He /live / an apartment.
d. Ba /travel /work.
e. They/ wait for a train
Ex: I am going to school.

- Control Ss to play a game: Noughts and
crosses.
- Have Ss choose a letter and make
sentence.




- Remind the present progressive tense.





- Have Ss write the homework.


Noughts and crosses

Example:
I’m walking to school.

+ Remember:
The present progressive tense:


S + BE + V_ing
( am, is, are )
IV. Homework:
- Learn vocabulary by heart.
- Do the exercises at home.
- Make five sentences, using the present
progressive with: I, She, He .
- Prepare the next part A 2&3
