Unit 9: A first-aid course
Period 55: Lesson 1: Getting started + Listen and read
I. Objectives:
-To help Ss to get acquainted with the new topic: The first -aid. To help Ss to
know more about the real situations which require first -aid. And how to do the fist
-aid.
- To drill speaking, reading, and listening skills.
II.Teaching aids.
Text book, tape+ cassette player + picture.
III. Teaching procedure.

Ask Ss to retell the main grammatical points that they ‘ve learnt in 8 units: units
1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8 ?
3. New lesson:
A. Getting started.
-Introduce some information about the lesson. Then hang the picture on the board.
Ask Ss to read some new words.
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to match the situation with the pictures
- Ask Ss to give the answers.
+ a girl has a burn on her arm: -ease the burn with ice, or cold water pack, and
cover with some ointment and cover with a sterile bandage.
+a boy has a bad cut on his leg:
- wash the cut with alcohol to sterilize it, and then cover it with a bandage.
+ a girl has a nose bleed:
- let her stand straight and raise her head behind, use some absorbent cotton.
+ a boy has a bee sting:
- wash the sting with alcohol, and then rub some ointment on it.
