I. Objectives
1. Knowledge: By the end of this lesson, pupils will be able to greet
others and introduce themselves, using Hello, Hi, I am +name.
2. Skills: - Develop all skills

1. Warm up .(2ms)
- Greetings. Say Hello ( encourage Ss to answer
with Hello).
- Repeat the procedure several times.
- Introduce yourself to the class by pointing to
yourself and say: Hello. I’m Miss Trang
- Say Hello to the class and have them reply.
Walking around the class to greet some pupils.
- Call the roll in order to remember the pupils’
names.
2. Preparation . (3ms)
New words

Part 1. Look, listen and repeat.
- Let ss look at the picture part 1a on page 10 to
describe it.
*Set the scene:
+ What can you see in the picture?
- Greeting
- Listen to the teacher.
- Reply
- Write vocabulary in their
notebooks.
- Teacher - whole class
- Look at the picture to describe.
+ Who are they?
+ Where are they?
+ What are they doing?
* Presenting Sentence patterns
- T gives a situation to present.
- T elicits the structures by asking Ss to speak
out the model sentence:
Miss Hien: Hello. I’m Miss Hien.
Pupils: Hello, Miss Hien.
Nice to meet you.
I’m + name ( I’m = I am)
Nice to meet you.
- Asks ss to look at the book and listen to the tape
two times.
- Asks ss to listen and repeat after the tape.
- Asks some ss to practice the dialouge.
- Listens and corrects mistakes.

Part 2: Point and say
- Have pupils look at Pictures 1,2. Ask them to
identify the characters in the pictures.
- Have pupils repeat the phrases a few times.
T models the dialogue (use a picture)
Miss Hien: Hello, I’m________.
Nam: Hello, ________.
I’m _________.
- Tell Ss that they are going to practise saying
Hello/ Hi. I’m + name. And responding to the
greeting.
- Ask ss point to each character in the picture and
elicit his/her name and the words to fill the gaSs.
- Write the whole sentences on the board.
- Have Ss repeat the sentences a few tim
- Call some students to stand up and read aloud.
- Have some Ss work in pairs and grouSs and
practice. Play the role in pic 1 and 2 then point
and say.
- Check some pairs, group at class.
Part 3: Let’s talk
- Look at the picture and introduce. What are they
talking?
- Ask Look at the conversation and complete the
conversation.
- In pairs students introduce their name the same
in the book.

- Look at the book and listen the
tape.

Play Rainbow game:
- Asks Some pupils make two lines. Two first
ones from each team hold hands. Some others go
through the hands when the music plays. As the
music stoSs, the ones who are the rainbow must
ask: How are you? .The one who is caught must
answer :“I’m fine, thank you./ thanks”.
2. Preparation . (3ms)

- Let ss look at the picture part 1a on page 8 to
describe it.

Picture a, Mai and Nam greet each other.Picture

* Note: - Children do not tend to ask each other
How are you ?
That is something adults do to each other and to
children, but not child to child. It is quite formal.
- Thanks is an informal expression of thank you.
- Asks ss to look at the book and listen to the
tape two times.
- Asks ss to listen and repeat after the tape.
- Asks some ss to practice the dialouge.
- Listens and corrects mistakes.
Part 2: Point and say
- Have pupils look at Pictures 2. Ask them to
identify the characters in the pictures.
Have pupils repeat the phrases a few times.
T models the dialogue (use a picture)
Mai: How are you,_________?
Nam: Fine, thanks. And you ?

Mai: Fine, thank you.
- Call on one pair and ask them to pretend to be
Mai and Nam.
- Call on one more pair to be Quan and Phong and
do the same way.
- Have the class repeat all the phrases
- Have Ss to work in pairs: Mai, Nam; Quan,
Phong.
- Call some students to stand up and read aloud.
- Check some pairs, group at class.
Part 3: Let’s talk
- Have Ss look at the pictures on page 8 and
identify the characters in the pictures.
- Point to Picture , ask what each character should
say.Then fill the speech bubbles with the phrases
promted by the Ss.Have Ss repeat the lines in the
bubbles a few times before letting them practise
freely.
- Have Ss to work in pairs (use the names in their
books or the real names to practice.
