There are three reasons why many people eat junk food. First of all, it is an easy and fast way to eat.

people to choose such as potato chips, pizza, sandwich, soft drink, instant noodle, candy bars, etc. The last
reason is that junk food is cheaper than other kinds of food. Comparing to dishes in restaurants, junk
food’s price is far more acceptable, so it is very suitable for students and low-income people. In conclusion,
although junk food is taste and pricey, people should eat them reasonably. 185 words
TOPIC 2: Why so few students read newspapers
There are two reasons that lead to the fact that so few students read newspapers. The first reason
is that many students do not have the habit of reading. The modern society brings to student a lot of
facilities to learn and entertain such as television, computer, internet, etc; therefore, many students lose
the reading habits. The habit of reading books and newspapers should be encouraged among students
when they were children. However, their parents do not concern this problem . The other factor is the
popularity of internet taking a lot of the student’s concentration. They only like sitting in front of the
screen to watch Korean films or listen to music or play online games, so they dislike reading newspaper,
they do not care about information which is going on all over the world although reading newspaper
brings lots of important information and knowledge helping the students more intelligent and creative. In
summary, these are the two reasons why few students read newspaper. 165 words
TOPIC 5: The effect of a parent, teacher, or friend on your life.
Becoming a better person, learning with motivation and being friendly are the effects of my parents,

my teachers and my friends on my life. When I was young, my parents were always good examples for me

to follow. My parents used to teach me the way to realize the right and the wrong, then when I am older, I
understand what it means. When I grow up, I get to go to school. After that, I meet and learn from my
teachers who give me energy to learn and work. This is enthusiasm in every lesson, the fire in my teachers’
heart. Whenever I am lazy, I just feel that fire, a strong determination in my teachers’ hearts. In addition, I
know many friends and learn a lot from their friendlyness. And the good friends are always right by side in
the many circumstances. In conclusion, my parents, my teachers and my friends have helped me become a
kind person as how I am now.
TOPIC 6: Why some students cheat
Ashamed of themselves and overconfident, students have been primarily responsible for their
cheat. More and more students worried about themselves because they have many pressure on studying
or finishing homework before they go to school. For example, they are more interested to their hobbies or
some games they like. That is the reason why they didn’t continue to go to classroom and they tell lie to
their parents to borrow money. On the other hand, some students dream all day about untruth, they
always think they are right and don’t accept any ideas from anyone. As a result, they became far from real
world and tell lie when they need. In summary, solutions for these two problems must be found so that

students became happier and tell the truth.
TOPIC 7: Comparing and contrasting: two the stages of a person’s life
Although the adulthood and the childhood are the two unforgettable stages of a person’s life, there are
three significant differences between them. First, the main action of the adults is working. Most of them
must work at their offices about eight hours a day and five days a week. On the other hand, the children’s
main actions are learning and playing. They spend from four to five hours to learn at school and about
three hours to play the games. The second difference is about the stress of these stages. The adults are
always afraid of financial problem, work pressure, children education, ect, while the children are free from
care about those. They only need finish well their homework. The third difference is about the freedom.
The adults are freer. They make their decision by themselves such as: buy the clothes, go out with their
friends, drink the alcohol, ect. However, the children have less freedom. They will have to be allowed by
their parents if they want to buy anything or go out with their friends. In conclusion, although these stages
are very different, they are interesting memories which we should remember.
TOPIC 8: Why people exercise
Doing exercises helps you de-stress, improve your health and live longer,there are three main
reasons why people exercise. Firstly, studies have shown that exercise is the great way to combat stress.
When getting your self into regular exercise, it will help get your mind off the stressful things out.

Secondly, exercise improve your health. Even if you can’t see the immediate results in your body, many
studies show that people who exercise regularly are half as likely to get a cold than people who don’t.
Thirdly, when you are healthier and happier, you will alive longer. Regular exercise improves life as much
as quitting smoking. Conclusion, as benefits that exercise can bring to your life, all you need to do is make it
a habit.
TOPIC 9: Students should not add teachers as friends on Facebook.

In my opinion, there is nothing wrong when students add their teachers as friends on Facebook. Firstly,
Facebook is created to connect people. Thus, if we know about someone, we can make friend with them by
adding them as friend on Facebook, All kinds of people, all kinds of relationship have the right to do it, not
except for teachers and students. Secondly, nowadays students are using social networking to exchange learning
materials. Therefore, it is easier for lecturers to give their students the file or other materials through Facebook
instead of other communication methods such as Gmail, Yahoo and so on.Thirdly, Facebook help us to share
things like: interests, hobbies and many other things we have experienced to each other so that it is going to make
the deeper relationship between instructors and learners. They will have a really profound mutual understanding
and the studying work could be better than ever. For these three reasons, I believe the relationship between
teachers and students is not only be created in schools but also on Facebook – the largest social network in the
world.183 words.
TOPIC 10: The top reason for bankruptcy is poor leadership.
In my point of view, there are three main explanations for bankruptcy nowadays, and lack of skillful
leadership is only one reason of them. First, it is due to the economic movement that lead to the whole market
change to the new situation. When the market come down, there will be lots of companies close their business
because they are not suitable to the changed circumstance. Second, there is no denying the fact that the policy of
government is also the big reason for stopping some kinds of enterprises. Some reseaches reveal that 30% of
enterprises stop their business affairs in Vietnam since the government have not kept beneficially incentive for
them. And from these above reasons, poor leadership mark the end for a company who cannot survive to stay
with its business. The unknowledgeable and lack of predictability boss will lead the company to its ending. To
conclude, bad headship alone cannot lead to an end of the company, unless the company get into the both hard
situations from the inside and the outside.175 words.

In my view, stop teaching handwriting is totally wrong. At first, handwriting together with language are
the culture of a nation. The Vietnamese people have a proverb “Handwriting strokes define people’s personality”.
Nowadays the young people use language so bad that if they continue doing this, it would not be long before the
handwriting is destroyed too. Moreover, learning handwriting is the fundamental requirement of primary pupils.
Not only are the kids learned how to write right, but they also practise the patience and carefulness. Some articles
show that 50% of primary pupils lose their handwriting styles when they come to secondary schools because of
poor instructing from previous study level. The last and most important reason why I extremely protest against
stopping handwriting’s teaching in school is that currently there is no other solution to substitute. For example,
computers may be helpful to learn but they are only familiar with urban kids, but the kids in rural areas is totally
different, they are too strange with such kind of high-technology items. In conclusion, there is no denying the fact
that hanwriting should be kept to teach at school and it cannot be obsolete. Total: 194 words.
TOPIC 12: Grades can’t measure students’ intelligence and performance

In my opinion, grades are the great way to measure the intelligence and performance of students that no
substitute can replace. To begin, grades, which are relevant to testing system, are inseparable with teaching

process. They are the motivation to promote innovation in learning and teaching progress. Grades are the useful
tools to comprehend the studying results of each student. It is reported that 80% of students pay more attention to
learn in class if they know there will have a test afterwards. Furthermore, grades provide the feedback
information to students.Through grades, students can aware how they are making progess as well as comprehend
the pros and con of them. Therefore, they will know what subjects that they are intelligent enough and the others
that they have to focus on. Finally, grades exert a strongly positive influence on making competition between
students. It follows therefore that each student have to concentrate more in studying to make their results better
than other students in class. To conclude, it is only if grades are used in schools and universities that they can
assess the implementation and cleverness of students. 187 words.
TOPIC 13: All mothers should be obliged to stay at home and care for their children.

As far as I am concerned, I completely disagree with the opinion that mothers should stay at home and do
the babysitting job only. First of all, unemployed mothers mean insufficient in family economy. In Vietnamese
society nowadays, the husbands cannot earn enough money to feed the whole family including: wifes, children
and parents. So it will be the extreme burden to the husband if he lets his wife do nothing. In addition, if the
mothers only stay at home, it would not long before she realises that she will lack social relationships, knowledge
and experience that she collected when she was in schools and offices before. It is reported that 25% of

Vietnamese wifes suffering from autism and aloneness when she no longer has any outdoor activities but settling
down at home. The third and most important reason is that the lives of mothers should be made up by the
mothers’ minds, not be conducted by anyone else. She could choose the right things for her and no need to
sacrifice to become a people-pleaser anymore. All in all, mothers treat their children by their deep and boundless
love, not because of any obligation that the society force them to do. 202 words.
TOPIC 14: All parents should attend parenting classes
In my view, parenting classes are definitely helpful that every parental couple should participate to
become more comprehensive and insightful parents. The first reason is that parents would be learned how to well
feed their kids at the beginning of children’s lifetime. There are many articles which reveal that 80% of
newlyweds do not know how to feed their children right and they only follow the caring methods came from
dinosaur generations. Additionally, those classes help parents educate their kids properly. They will easily
demonstrate their thinking, knowledge and experience to their kids through creative and practical ways instead of
using rod and scolding. Finally, parents would be awared of not only the instructors, the feeders of their kids, but
also their true friends. It is reported that after participating parenting classess, many parents reveal that they now
fully know the emotions and thinking of their kids, and they are becoming the best friends of them, sharing many
kinds of things to each other and enhancing the relationship than ever before. In summary, parenting classes are a
new trend with many benefits that married couples should participate in. 188 words.
TOPIC 15: Should abortion be legal?

In my opinion, abortion is totally legal. First of all, many countries in the world permit abortion. For
example, pursuant to Article 44 of Vietnamese People’s Health Protection Law, women have the right of abortion
at will. That means our country has legalized this issue into law and accept the right to abort. Secondly, if the
National Assembly prohibit it, the illegal abortion rate would increase significantly. It is reported that in Chile,
when the government banned abortion, there was a huge illegal abortion affairs with such a rate of 36%
dangerous complication for the pregnant in comparison with just 1% of risky abortion in the US. The last reason
is that the population growth could be controlled by the government through childbirth management policies. By
accepting abortion, the national security is also ensured because of the fact that population control is one of the
methods in securing the safety of a nation. To summarize, simple as they may be, legalized abortion makes a lot
of benefit for not only pregnant women’s health but even also the nation’s security. 179 words.

In my point of view, I completely agree with cohabitation between students. First of all, pursuant to
Declaration of Independence of President Ho Chi Minh dated 2nd September 1945: “Everybody is born with
equality. Creators give them the right of not to be violated by anybody; among these, they include the right to
live, liberty and the pursuit of happiness”. Students take into account the vast majority of population and they are
in loving age. Thus, they have the right to find their own joyfulness. Secondly, one main reason for students’
living together is due to they lack sentiment when studying far away from home. Therefore, they need someone
to share things and fulfil their loneliness. According to some statistics, there are one third of students living with
their boy/girl friends and share the one apartment each couple. The third and most important reason is that
cohabitation gives them a chance to comprehend each other before getting married. With the long time mutually
understanding, couples will comprehensively get enough experience and make a good decision about their further
marital situation. Above all, living together is totally acceptable in this new age, and who are we to prevent those
people from making their own way of life and learning from their own experience? 213 words.
TOPIC 17: Should newly married couple live with parents-in-law?
In my view, I agree with the idea of living with wife’s family in some extent and my below opinions are
based on the case that the newly married couple cannot have a chance to live with the husband’s parents. To

begin with, living with parents-in-law brings the new couple a lot of benefit and one of them is economic benefit.
No longer having to hire an apartment and caring about monthly living fees make the new couple an opportunity
to save their money and prepare for the more prosperous lives than ever before. Additionally, their kids will be
received a full-emotion caring from the wife’s parents instead of being in dire need at the time their parents are
away from home to work. It is reported that kids who live with grandparents have less chance to get autism than
those who are not as lucky as. Finally, the happiness of a family could be better if each wife and husband has the
private time to take care of themselves and no one has the feeling of sacrifice all of one’s lifetime for the whole
family anymore. To conclude, as long as there is nowhere to live but hire an apartment, the newlyweds,
especially the husband should lower his self-respect to stay with the wife’s parents in order to have a higher
living standard and family happiness. 227 words.
TOPIC 18: Should green trees be cut down in Hanoi?
From my point of view, the project of cutting down 6700 trees in Hanoi is totally wrong. At first, trees
have to be cut down if they are already dead, broken or get diseased and become unsafe. However, even in this
above situation, the functional units must have the license from the People’s committee of Hanoi but they did not
follow the full requirement of licensing procedure. It is reported that more than 2000 trees, including healthy
trees were felled before there was a vast majority of citizens demonstrating against this action. Furthermore,

Hanoi is the capital of Vietnam, pursuant to Law on the Captial, it is prohibited to fell trees and destroy forests in
the territory of capital. It means that this project was totally against the current regulations. The third and most
crucial reason is that the native authority did not ask for people‘s opinions and it leads to the fact that the citizens
felt unrespected. The problems was culminated when one of the leaders of Communist Party in Hanoi claimed to
the public that no need to ask people’s opinions because the citizens know nothing, and the result is that the
project was stopped under the pressure of citizens’ demonstrations. To conclude, trees could be cut down if the
native authority fully follow the legal procedure and ask for the permit of Hanoi citizens and it is a big lesson for
the leaders of Hanoi.238 words.
TOPIC 19: My wonderful experience
I had never been more proud of myself in my whole life. That summer, I had to study hard for the
university entrance examination. My future depended much on this so I was very stressful. But it was just the
beginning of my nightmare. I didn’t have much confidence in myself because among 3 exam subjects, I was only
good at French and literature and bad at maths. No matter how hard I tried, I couldn’t improve my maths. I went
to many maths centers and even asked for help from my teacher but that didn’t work. I was extremely depressed
and disappointed with myself. I imagined my parents ‘sad face if I failed the exam. I never wanted to let them
down because they did many things for me. For that reason, I thought that I should change my method of studies.
I didn’t spend much time to think nonsense and tried to concentrate my attention on maths. When I couldn’t
study anymore, I spent time to relax. Moreover, I participated in many mock exams to see how I improved. Even
though the beginning was not good, little by little, the result was better. My parents and my sister cheered me up
a lot.Finally, after such a hard time, I passed the exam and now study in the university that I always dreamed of.
I especially have to thank my family and friends a lot because they were always by my side when I need them.
Personally, I think that everyone has difficulties, the most important thing is that we shouldn’t let the difficulties
stop us, we should try our best and do everything we can no matter what the result is. This experience helps me
have more confidence and I’ll be able to give advices to who has the same problem like me.
TOPIC 20: “All children should stay at school until they are 18 years old”. To what extend do you agree or
disagree with this statement.
Nowadays, technology development supplies more and more information with people, so some young
people think that they do not stay at school until they are eighteen years old. In my opinion, I disagree with this
statement because it has two reasons to explainthis question. First, it is important that they are prepared and
informed about basic knowledge and life skills. At school, they are supplied very basic knowledge, for example:

history, physical, chemical, mathematic… In additional, they can improve their skills through taking many life
skills courses. It is background that can help them choose development menthod in their future. Second, keeping
young people in school until the age of eighteen what help them easier than to get jobs. Many company only

employ workers aged eighteen and older. Many evidences show that human aged 18 years old develop fully both
physical and psychology. They must bear every their action. In additional, young people stay at school until they
are eighteen years old, they have many opportunities to join learning at university. After that, when they
guaranteed from university they can seek many jobs what have high-paid, good condition, etc.In conclusion, all
children should not leave school when they are not eighteen years old and young people should aware that
staying at school until the age of eighteen is very important for their life.
