the using of social English .

Ask Sts to complete the conversation .

Give some cues and ask Sts to give the greeting .

b) Presentation : ( 10' )
Ask Sts to look at the picture and answer the questions .
What are they doing ?
( They are greeting each other )
Let Sts listen to the dialogue .
Remind Sts of the difference in the greeting between ages .
" Good morning / afternoon / evening " are used to greet older people.
" Hi " and " Hello " are used to greet the friends and people in the family .
Have Sts listen once again .
Let them practise in pairs , have them change the roles .
Ask some pairs to perform the dialogue before the class .
c) Practice : ( 15' )
Ask some Sts to give different greetings to people of different ages before
the class .
Check if Sts understand the responses to the greetings in the box .
Ask Sts to listen to the cassette . Have Sts listen one by one and check
the correct answer .
Tell Sts to complete the dialogues .

Ask Sts to look at the pictures in the book and answer
Who are they in the picture ?
What are they doing ?
Ask Sts to listen to 4 conversations describing the pictures but they are
not order . They have to listen to them and mark the number in
good order as conversation in the tape .

Let Sts to listen to the tape and write the letters of the dialogues in the
order .
