LESSON PLAN
UNIT 11 – SOURCES OF ENERGY
C. Listening
I. Objectives : By the end of this lesson, Ss will be able to:
- improve listening skills by listening for specific and general information
- broaden their knowledge about some sources of energy
II. Anticipated problems: There may be a lack of time, so teacher should plan the lesson
carefully.
III. Teaching aids: textbook, cassettes tapes
IV. Procedure

A. Before you listen
- Ask Ss to work in pairs to list some energy they use
in their houses.
(E.g:
Petrolium – running car, motobile, truck,…
Coal – heating, cooking
Oil – running train, truck, boat
Gases – cooking)
- Ask them the meaning of some words given in the
textbook.
(Ecologist, fossil fuel, resources…)
- Help them to pronouce it correctly by asking them
listen and repeat.
B. While you listen
- give Ss introduction about what they are going to listen.
Task 1: Listen and complete the sentences by
circling the letter A, B, C or D


- gives the instruction of the task
- ask Ss to read through all the questions and try to
guess the answers.
- plays the tape the first time
- call on one St to write his answers on the board and
call on others to complete all the answers.
- Play the tape the second time
- Ask Ss whether they want to change their answers.
- play the tape the last time to check all the answers
sentence by sentence.
- work in pairs
- answer T’s questions
-listen and repeat
- read carefully through the
questions and guess the answers
- listen to the tape
- write the answers on board
- listen to the tape
-listen again and copy the correct
answers

Task 2: Filling the blanks with missing words
- read out the requirement of the task
- ask Ss to read though the passage and guess the
missing words.
- check if there is words that Ss don’t know the
meanings.
- Play the tape the first time.
- call on one St to write his answers on board.

- play the tape the second time.
- Ask another St to write her answers after the second
listening.
- make any comparison
- Ask Ss to listen again.
- check their answer sentence by sentence.
C. After you listen
- give the introduction to the task
- Ask Ss to work in pairs
- call on one St to write his answers on board then
call some others to check them.
- Ask Ss for explanations if necessary.
- Give feedback.
D. Homework
- Ask Ss to learn by heart all new words
- Prepare Part D – Writing
