TEST 1
MAHATMA GANDHI
Mohandas Gandhi was first called
Mahatma, or Great Soul, by the poet
Tagore. The name was taken up by
his admirers but Gandhi himself did
not like it. He had no wish for

honours or titles. It is difficult,
though, to describe this man- one of

India’s struggle for political
independence. Yet the word “
politician” did not suit him. He
looked for neither power nor high
place. He care nothing for wealth,
fame or comfort, but for his people’s
hapiness above all. People of
different faiths came to sit at his feet
and learned from him. And his

teachings have touched the hearts of
people in many nations.
Gandhi was a dreamer who spent all
his life trying to apply his dreams to
the world around him. He dreamed
of a worls where there would be no
rich or poor, maste or slave, where
no man should be ashamed of his
birth or position in society.

started by people who profited from
them, nd he suggested that those
warlike people should be shot on the
very first day of war, by sentence of
people.
