A 2.500 -3000 word essay on one of the topics listed below
Introdution: giới thiệu chung, state the prolems, tại sao thích nó,
Literature review: theories related to the area chosen (dựa vào lý thuyết để nói
Methodology (phương pháp: đọc tài liệu, observation) PP đc lựa chọn ntn, tại sao
bạn chọn pp đó
Result and Discussion: observation rồi give comments
Conclusion
1. Complementary on Classroom Observations
Make a series of observations of at least two language classes, and produce a report that
lists major events in the classroom and the patterns of interaction in the classes. Provide
an evaluation of the classes with reference to ideas encountered in the course.

Guidelines
The classes must be taught by teachers other than you
You must have a written permission of the teacher(s) whom you observe. This should be
attached to your essay as an appendix.
The lessons should be between 45 to 55 minutes duration each.
Your observation schedule should capture data on
The nature of the students and the teaching program
The focus of the lesson
Data on the following aspects of the class
What language is used, and the extent to which it is used to exchange
meanings, or practice aspects of the language
Who uses English in the class? What are the patterns of interaction?
What tasks do students complete in the class?



How does the teacher respond to student errors and mistakes?
How does the teacher structure and set up the tasks?
Give evaluative comments on the data, with reference to ideas encountered in this
course?
2. Exploration of a teaching idea. (chọn 1 cái gì mà bạn thấy thích thú) (nên
Analyze an idea for a teaching activity, procedure, or classroom task encountered during
the course. Provide a clear description of the task and its rationale, including its value for
student learning English in Viet Nam (Specify the group of students you would use the
idea with). Explain what interests you about this idea and how it relates to your
usual approach in the classroom. Explore its potential for use in English language
classes in Viet Nam, including possible problems or necessary adaptations in making it
effective.
3. A critical evaluation of your own teaching experience with one of the following



Project-based learning
The teaching of integrated skills (listening & speaking, reading & writing etc.)

Describe the rationale for adoption of this method/aspect. Describe the main features of
the method, or the prevailing ideas advocated for the aspects of teaching. Evaluate the
benefits of such an approach/ or focus of teaching in Viet Nam, and present an overview
of your own lesson based on this methodology or addressing the aspects of language
4. Reflective teaching: Exploring your own classroom practice
Video or audio recordings of lessons can provide very useful information for reflection.
Audio and video record your own 45- 55 minute English class. Explore and reflect on
your teaching practices. Consider the following issues.
Aspect of teacher’s talk
How much do you talk? What do you talk about? Are instructions and
explanations clear? How much time do you allocate to student talk? How do you

respond to student talk?
Aspect of teacher’s behavior
Where do you stand? Who do you speak to? How do you come across to the
students?


Student feedback
Collect your students’ opinions and perceptions with simple questionnaires regarding
your class.
Then identify what to do next
Discuss your teaching patterns and your students' feedback. You may have ideas for
changes to implement. Do you change in your beliefs and plan to implement changes in
your practices? Take these questions into consideration: What are you doing? Why are
you doing it? How effective is it? How are the students responding? How can you do it
better?
