Objectives:
Educational aim: By the end of this lesson, students will be able to:
- develop such reading micro-skills as scanning for specific ideas, and
identifying and correcting false statements
- use the information they have read to discuss about celebrations in their
culture
Knowledge:
- General knowledge: students know how American people do some
celebrations.
- New words: Words to celebrations.
Teaching aids: Pictures, poster, textbook, blackboard …
I. Pre-Reading
Warm-up
- Teacher asks students to look at the pictures and answer the following
questions:
* Picture 1
1. What are the children doing? ( Are they having a party?)
2. What party is it? ( Is it a birthday party?)
3. Are they friends of each others?
4. How do they feel? (Are they happy or sad?)
* Picture 2
1. What party are they having? ( Is it a birthday party or a wedding
anniversary?)


2. How long have they been married?
3. Are they happy?
Vocabulary:
- blow out (v) : thổi tắt
- celebrate (v) : làm lễ kỉ niệm
 celebration (n) : lễ kỉ niệm
- gift (n) : quà tặng
- participation (n) : sự tham gia
II. While-Reading
Task 1
- Teacher pastes the poster(task 1) on the board asks students to do Task 1 in
pairs
- Teacher asks students to go to the board and write their answers
- Teacher gives feedback

III. Post-Reading
- Teacher paste the poster containing some following question:

4. What would you like to receive in your birthday?
- Teacher asks students to work in pairs and answer the questions.

- Teacher calls some students to talk about their birthday party basing on the
answers
Homework:
- Teacher asks students to learn the vocabularies
- Teacher asks students to do task 1 and task 2 again at home
- Teacher asks students to prepare for the next lesson (lesson: speaking)
