<b> LESSON 1: Part 1, 2</b>
<b>I. Objective: </b>
<b>1. Language focus:</b>
- By the end of the lesson Ss recognize and pronounce the letter Oo and its sound
correctly.
- Understand, recognize and say the three Oo words.
- Write the letter Oo
- <i>Vocabulary: olive, orange, octopus.</i>
<i>- Sight words: this is…</i>
<b>2. Skill: </b>
- Listening, speaking, reading, writing.
<b>3. Attitude:</b>
- Encourage Ss to use the structure more regulary.
<b>II. Teaching aids: </b>
- Book, CD, phonics cards, paper including the lyrics of the chant.
<b>III. Method:</b>
- Model – Talk - Practice, individual work, pair work, group work.
- Some techniques can be used: music chairs.
<b>IV. Procedures:</b>

<b>2. Warm up (5’) </b>
<i><b>Activity: Hot Cards </b></i>
- T asks students sit down.
- T hand out the phonics card from the previous unit.
- T play the song from Lesson 2 Unit 1 (Track 06).
- While the song is playing, the students pass the phonics card around. T stop the
song, the student holding the phonics card must say that word.
- T monitors and corect their mistake.

- T introduction of letter o, Its sound and how to

- T use a card with letter Nn or write on the
board the letter Nn to introduce to the students
the new lesson.
- Ask students how to pronouce the letter name
and the letter sound by saying “ This is the
letter Oo. The letter o makes the / / sound.
- Ss listen and repeat.
- T ask Ss to repeat several times and check
student’s pronunciation(letter Oo / / and its
sound.
- Ss work in group.
- Ss work individually.
- Ss look the cards and repeat .
- T use gestures (hand actions ) to help students
- T check student’s understanding T says the
words,all ss do actions and vice versa
- T call some Ss to say the words out loud and
correct their mistakes.
- Ss remember the cards.

- T ask ss to work in groups. T hangs out the
photographs about the story and ask Ss to circle
the letter.
- Ss listen to the teacher and to circle the right
letter.
- T gives the time.
- T corrects and praise the winner.
<i><b>Activity 2: Listen and point. Choose. </b><b>(8’)</b></i>
- T asks students look at the book and listen to
the words: an orange, an olive, an octopus
- Have students listen and repeat the words for
several times
- T put up the phonics cards on the board.
- T point to the orange card and say: This is an
orange.
- T ask the students come to the board.
- Ss point to the phonics card and say: This is
an………..
- T monitors and give feedback.

<i><b>Activity: Jumping Game </b><b>(7’)</b></i>
- T puts a line of masking tape on the floor
- T designate one side True and the other False
- T hold up a phonics card (e.g: octopus) and
say: octopus
- Ss jump on the True side.
- T hold up another phonics card (e.g: olive)
and say: nut
- Ss jump on the False side.
- Do the same with another phonics card
- The students who end up on the wrong side sit
out.
- Give feedback

- T put up the lyris of the chant on the board.
- Without music, use the phonics card and step
Ss to sing the chant with <i>Olive.</i> Do the same
with <i>n</i>and <i>nest.</i>
- Ss listen and chant.
- With music, the whole class sing the whole
chant. Do the chant again using gestures for
eacg word.
- T give feedback.
- T ask Ss to write the chant in to note book.
- T ask Ss to do excersise in the work book.
- Ss do excersise in the work book.
<b>Activity(7’)</b>
- T divides the class into 3 groups (olive,
orange, octopus).
- Each group says the appropriate chant while
the rest of the class claps.
- T asks the groups to show their corresponding
picture cards while they chant.
- T asks whole class to read the chant aloud.
- Ss read the chant aloud.
