UNIT 3: A TRIP TO THE COUNTRYSIDE Lesson 1: GETTING STARTED - LISTEN AND READ I. OBJECTIVES: 1. Educational aims: Know more about life, and activities in the countryside 2. Teaching aims: By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to talk about life and activities in the countryside. II. PREPARATIONS: Book, cassette tape, pictures, sub-board III. PROCEDURES: Teacher’s activities 1. Warm - up (5’) - Give Ss a picture - Have Ss find out the correct activity in the pictures. - Ask Ss a question: Where do we see those activities? 2. Presentation (10’) - Play the tape for Ss 2 times. - Introduce some new words:. 1. home village (n) 2. bamboo forest (n) 3. banyan tree (n) 4. shrine (n) 5. river bank (n) - Set the scene: Ba invited Liz to join his family trip to his home village. Students’activities - Group works: Look at the picture and match the activity with the picture 1. watering the vegetable 2. swimming 3. feding the chickens 4. havesting 5. feedind the pigs 6. flowing in the field 7. a buffalo boy’s flying his kite 8. playing football in the country side - Listen to the tape. - Guess the meaning.. - Listen to the teacher..

Practice (20’) + Activity1: - Have Ss read the text again and decide which sentence is True and which sentence is false(page 23) True / False statements prediction: 1. F 2.T 3. F 4. F 5. T 6. F 7. T 8. F 9. T + Activity 2: - Have Ss read the text again and answer the questions(page 23) - Call some Ss to read the answer and check. 1. It’s 60 kilometers to the north of Ha Noi. 2. They got to the village by bus. 3. It’s is at the entrance to the village. 4. They saw the shrise of a Vietnamese hero on the mountain. 5. They had a picnic on the riverbank. 6. Liz took a lot of photos to show her parents. 7. Liz wishes she could visit Ba’s village again. 4. Production (5’) - Have Ss talk about the activities and sights on their way to their home village. - Get feedback.. - Individual work.. - Group works. - Read the answer. - Whole class. - Give feedback.. 5.
