By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to write short , simple speech with clear organization and present it in front of the whole class. II. PREPARATION: Textbook, word cards III. PROCEDURE:. TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES. STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES. 1/ Warm-up : (5’) Ordering - Ask Ss to work in pair, put the sections in the correct place to complete a speech. - Give the correct answers : 3-2 -1 - Lead to the lesson. 2/ Pre-writing: (15’) Activity 1: Definition of a speech - Introduce the topic of the writing and some definitions of speech: “It is the act of delivering a formal spoken communication to an audience . A speech usually had three parts : Introduction , Body and conclusion.” - Ask Ss match the functions of each part. A 1.Introduction 2.Body 3.Conclusion. - Work in pair. - Correct. - Listen. - Listen and remember.. - Match the table.. B A. Summing up what you have said B.getting people’s attention and telling them what you are going to talk C.giving details in easy-tounderstand language.  Activity 2: - Ask Ss some questions : a. What does Professor Roberts do in the introduction of his speech ? What is he going to talk about ? b. What are his ideas about saving the amount of gas? c. What does he say finally ? 3/ While-writing: (18’) - Have Ss work in group of 4, and choose one topic to write a speech. - Guide. - Call on some representative of each group to. - Answer.. - Work in group. - Pay attention. - Present their writing..

I am a conservationist and today I am going to tell you how to reduce the amount of garbage . You know , nowadays , every household produces a lot of garbage. You can reduce this amount by : + Collecting plastic bags , empty cans and bottles then send them to factories for recycling. + Using cloth bags instead of plastic bags. + Not keeping solid waste with food waste. + Using food waste to feed pigs , chickens and other animals . If you follow these simple rules , not only will reduce the amount of garbage you produce but your life will be cleaner. 4/ Post-writing: (5’) - Call on some representative of some groups to present in front of class.. 5/ Homework: (2’). - Make a speech.. - Write assignments. - Have Ss: + Copy down the completed writing in their notebooks. + Prepare for the next period Unit 7: lesson 5: Language Focus. OBJECTIVES:. - By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to further improve their understanding about connectives , phrasal verbs and suggestions through sentence completion and suggestions making. II. PREPARATION: Extra boards III. PROCEDURE:. TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES. STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES. 1 / Warm-up : (7’) Brainstorming. The ways of saving energy. - Ask Ss to work in group and review all the ways to save energy which they have learned. - Gather ideas from groups and have some final thoughts on the ways to save energy. 2/ Exercises: (28’)  Practice 1: Connectives - Explain functions of the connectives : + And : to add a similar or another idea. + But , however : to add an opposite idea. + Because : to give a cause ? reason . + So , therefore : to give an effect + Or : to give an alternative Example : 1.John is old and thin . However , he has to work 7 hours a day . 2. Lan did not do all his homework last week . Therefore , he got bad mark for the written teast yeaterday . * Exercise1: Complete the sentences with connectives - Ask Ss to work in group and exchange their answers with a friend. - Feedback and give correct Answers :. Making suggestions - Take note. - Review some structures to make suggestions. Suggest + v- ing… Suggest + that + should + V- infinitive … - Work in pair. - Ask Ss to work in pairs to make suggestions , using the ideas in the textbook. * Example : I suggest collecting unused clothes.
