CHAPTER 1
INTRODUCTION
1. Purposes of the internship

Internship just like footprints in the sand, each step signifies the
journey taken.
Internship plays an important role in students learning process. they
can use the opportunity to apply their knowledge, to turn their theoretical
learning into practical learning
Internship, from what we concern and know about, is always
considered as an prime step for students who practice in college or university
to have a chance toexperiences in real life, to see what different form what
students learn at the campus. from the period of internship
Nevertheless, internship, somehow, works as a future career trial.
for example, when studying at university, the students may develop interested

in one typical career. however, they might have some confusion over their
future career. which they have chosen to learn, does it suit them? Do they really
like it? they will find their answer in their intern period.
As an English-mayjored students of Dong Nai University, I have an
opportunity to study and work at “ Cambridge Việt’ center for my internship
course. This is a valuable opportunity for me to practice my English
knowledge, communication skills and learn experience and soft skills from
every body in the center. I myself think that the center is an ideal organization
that students of foreign language can collect information and get valuable
experience at work
“ If you never try, you will never know what you are capable of”

I had an internship course at Cambridge Viet English center which
is located in Bien Hoa city. That's also a pro for me to move easily when it's
about 10 kilometers from my house to the center. I was a teaching assitant,
with this position. I am totally confident when finishing the internship
course. The internship time that I had in Cambridge Viet English Center
from June, 15, 2020, to July, 18, 2020, I believe I can achieve some
teaching skills in all aspects at the moment-after the internship, specifically
is dealing with children's problems not only learning but also mentality of
children. To understand children thinking, It's an art.

CHAPTER 3
CONTENT OF THE INTERSHIP
I.

Duties delivered in Cambridge Viet English Center.
When introduced to the working environment at Cambridge

Viet English Center, for the first two weeks, I had been instructed to
practice in preparing, setting up the classroom: taking attendance, switching
on the air- conditioners, arranging the students' position and teaching

materials, re-organized classrooms' lessons before handed back whilst
observing how the works been done there. I was instructed to prepare for
cleaning up the classroom; keeping it cleaned. And the only outstanding
thing was re-teaching for any children if they had missed the previous
sessions.
One week later, I had a chince to be a tuter, my work was
surrounded by teaching Kids learning English such as discussing lessons
with leachers, translating complex sentences into Vietnamese for students;
playing games- dancing together, following cach student's record and
learning behavior from cach class, if they have any matier, I must softly
adjust their behavior and handle each matter following levels.

9

II.

Performance.
My working times were the same as other co-workers.

However, with the particularity of internship, I was scheduled following more
details below:

Week 1: Hygiene, vehicle- arrangement, setting up the classroom.
In the first days of the internship, I was quite surprised when entering a
new and professional environment. Everything was worth learning.
My job in the first week was familiar with almost errand tasks around
the center and inside classrooms such as cleaning glasses, mopping the floor,
arranging vehicle, taking attendance, setting up the classroom (turning on/off

air- conditioners/ fans/ computers/ protectors, preparing the seats) and make
sure that the classroom was clear and the equipment are all set up and ready to
use.
An internship work day will start at 3:30 pm and finish at 8:30
pm ( Monday, Wednesday, Friday ).

• I had to take attendance, holding a list of students and called out loud the name

on the list. If any students absent, I had to inform to taking attendance is to see
how many students presented and how Ms. Phuong- who takes responsibility
for attendance. The purpose of many was absented. The attendance list would
be submit back to the AC's staff, hereby, would make phone calls to those who
weren't presented atm. I have to take attendance twice. One before class starts
and one before class ends. This task will help the homeroom teachers and I to
keep track on the students, in addition, make plan for a private tutoring if
need.
• Turning on the air- conditioners, fans, computers, protectors. then I had to
arrange teaching material that the AO department Arranging seats and if it
happened to be a class for Kids that day provided me with, it was usually toys,
images, crayons on even clay for teaching purposes. If there is any damage in

class, I have to instantly contact Mr. Phong- a technical staff.
Once a week, I had to report back to the AO on teaching materials that I took
for classes, returned and borrowed another if the Also, I have to clean and rearrange the classroom after the students homeroom teachings ask for or
10

unrequired for that day's lessons. are all dismissed. This task is to make sure the
classroom is clean and clear and at the best condition for others to use. Not to

mention, having comfortable and clean environment is the basic solution to feel
relaxing for learning or working even.
Every week at Cambridge Viet English Center we have a meeting
between native teachers, Vietnamese teachers and teaching assistants to
exchange information and problem arising in each class as well as how to
handle those problems in the classroom during the past week. The purposes of
the meeting are giving the information if other teachers take over, discussion on
teaching methods to create a helpful, funny and well- atmosphere lessons and
how to deliver those lessons to students in the most enthusiastic way as
possible.
When having the internship here, I had a chance to attend the meeting
as well, in 5 weeks, it's actually the best meeting that I have never had before,
everyone was amazed concentrating on how to teaching English effectively.
• Week Two and Three: Re-teaching for children if they had missed the

previous lessons.
My responsibilities in the second week at Cambridge Viet
English Center were the same as the first week. However, the outstanding
point at that time was teaching for several students who were absent the
previous unit because of any reason. These students had to come to the class
earlier than other students, I mean; instead the time of the first shift which
starts 5:30 pm, they need to come at 4 pm or 4:30 pm and I will teach them in
person for pronunciation, grammar or any skills in English belonging to the
lessons that they had missed. Indeed, I was extremely nervous when the irst
thne going to the board and teaching about five vowels and consonants in
English. At the beginning, I did not know how to make students understand

11

clearly. Thanks to my colleagues at the center, because of their advices, I had
had more experiences.
Gadually, I had learned how to explain my knowledge about that ching
because the brain of children is in growing process. They cannot particular
lesson for kids. In my opinion, that was the hardest thing in understand fully or
clearly. Additionally, if I do not explain fluently, they and if I can't explain
carefully and easy to understand enough, they will be in confusion. As a result,
they will not apprehend the lesson of which they had missed. Even if they do
understand to an extent, it will slowly fade receiving, they are just learning by
rote which is not good for their further away as their brain does not recognize
the knowledge that they are learning. It was the motivation will be like a mess.
It was the motivation that urged me to learn how to make everything simple.
The most recent fourteen days.
In that week, I have figured out how to speak with individuals. principally
was guardians. Typically, some of them might want to have their youngsters in
the study hall. Or on the other hand basically, some of them might want to
know their kids' conduct and execution in the study hall. I had encounters that
assisted me much with shaping my discourse. Listening-resisting the urge to
panic and talking cautiously.
As a matter of fact, when I have taught kids in the inside,
there were numerous things that I have experienced. Encouraging Kids have
never been simple. My witticism was: "instructing from your heart and put
yourself into your understudy's point of view". I have contemplated these
circumstances. There were a thousand inquiries showing up inside my
psyche: How would i be able to contribute something accommodating to
training? How might I help a formatively impaired understudy learning
English? and so forth. Nonetheless, every understudy has a distinctive
methodology language and my obligation are causing them to comprehend
and persuading youngsters. To the extent I know from the entry level
position. instructors need to know the technique for educating to take care of

12

all issues that happened in the study hall. On account of Ms. Phong , in that
month, I had been moved working situation to have more conditions to
anxious to find out about instructing and understudy the executives. As usual,
I go to the study hall and set up everything, except that day was bizarre, I
needed to stand up in Iront the board and begin to convey exercises to
understudies.
o The Game.

Each period has 2 games for Kids, one toward the start of the
exercise, one toward the end. The warm-up game before the class start would
pull in students to center and reflex activity so as to when the instructors
convey a spic and span exercise, they can perform better. Beginning an exercise
by doing a few kinds of games or stories was extremely critical to go to the
substance; I can begin with a clever story or request that they share their own.
As a rule, my work was effectively draw kids' consideration. The reason for the
game toward the end was to audit the exercise and it spurred kids in the wake
of learning hours.
o The Video.

Every exercise incorporated a few recordings identified with
the topic. The issue was the choice of the video which was incredibly
straightforward and alluring. We will likewise, have the understudies (as a rule
pre-children or children) to move to the tune to help up the environment
before the exercise begins.
o The Topic.

Each unit in the understudy book will have a particular them. It

is either the subject that the AO office requires or the homeroom educators
think of. We will have a private gathering between the homeroom instructor
and showing aide once every week. At that private gathering, the homeroom
instructor will think of a thought for the next week's exercises and talking
about that thought with their individual educating collaborators. We will
consider the topic of exercises if not gave. Every day life routine which closes
to their life, for example, appearance, portraying individuals, bearing, body
parts," garments, hues, food, and beverages, and so forth is regularly utilized.
13

o The Songs.

Looking through melodies on the Internet were a valuable
apparatus for instructing, one of the least demanding and most interesting
approaches to recollect words in an alternate language is through music. There
are bunches of straightforward melodies for Kids to move toward English.
They will learn simpler and less weight in contrast with the conventional
method of educating. They retained words and their significance through tune
and body development when they do straightforward moving related. The
most noteworthy channel that pulls in me was "Overly Simple Songs for Kids"
on Youtube. I might want to consolidate sing and move together, it was more
entertaining. The rundown of my main tunes was "Hi melody", "I'm A Gummy
bears", "Head, shoulders, knees and toes", "Family fingers",
o The Activities.

I love to improve collaboration aptitudes for kids by
consolidating 3 or 4 understudies in a gathering through rehearsing practices
in classes. Kids figured out how to communicate and clarify thoughts,
likewise to think about their companions' thoughts. Accordingly, they

regarded different feelings and acknowledged it on the off chance that it was
appropriate.
o The Dancing.

Moving was the most ideal approach to startup; I saw that
youngsters will in general love moving more than singing. What's more, if
educators can blend 2 of them, that is overly great. I incredibly love "Handwashing melody", "Hokey Pokey" and "BINGO".
When remaining on the board, aside from showing English, I accept
that I am an individual that becomes effective on kids' character. In this way,
my conduct was absolutely significant. Along these lines, in each class that I
had been appointed for, I have shown them conduct in life by recounting to a

14

story or demonstrating a video, clarify which was correct or wrong, and
educated them following the correct way.
An alternate method to advance kids' information was by finding out
about the world. I would show recordings of nations that I have gathered data
previously and clarify them through everything appeared in those recordings. I
would be a video cut about England, Paris, America, Australia, China, Korea,
and so forth. With the entirety of my insight, I needed to be a pioneer that
drove my youngsters to the world as long as they comprehend the way of life,
life pace, culture and goals of nations as opposed to one specific nation. That
will be entrancing and motivating.
Be that as it may, aside from three or four days, I have shown Kids,
I was as yet a Teaching Assistant, particularly with local speakers. We had a
conversation on which heading of the homeroom to accomplish its objective, it
has begun before the meeting begun. I additionally viewed the substance of the
exercise, advise instructors if there were any errors in the record. In the study

hall, I have partaken in each movement included singing, playing in any event,
moving. Making an interpretation of complex sentences into Vietnamese for
youngsters was exceptionally stunning; I could rehearse my listening aptitudes
and talking abilities when working with local speakers. Here and there, the
most humiliating inclination was requesting that local educators rework their
words or requests for youngsters which I didn't comprehend. After a few times
feeling like that, I bit by bit tried to avoid panicking and was quicker on
improving my listening aptitudes.
In each meeting, we have one educator (Vietnamese or Native
speaker have a place with the task plan) and one Teaching Assistant. At the
point when instructors talk, the TA will remain close to the board and watch
understudies following the exercise. On the off chance that understudies don't
focus, I have to remind them. The typical demonstrations were playing with
their pens, taking a gander at the roof, and so on. Regardless of what exercises
of children in the homeroom I need to focus on.
15

One of my obligations in that month was checking the test and
evaluating them. Because of the last test in their school, in Cambridge Viet
English Center, they needed to gather numerous tests for understudies to audit
and chipping away at, along these lines, I had a huge amount of tests to check. I
think checking tests require aptitudes also. I comprehended the mindset of
children needs to have a decent imprint, really was rivalry, not was selfassessment. Getting understudy's musings, I additionally figured out how to
give denotes that fulfilled understudies. At Cambridge Viet English Center, We
gave focuses by roses included energized sentences which didn't make kids
baffled and maintained a strategic distance from kids' negative inclination.
• Week Four and Five : Communication skills, dealing with complicated

situations in the classroom.

1. How might I help my youngsters learning English at home?

My answer: "To learning English, Vocabulary is significant.
Essentially on the grounds that, youngsters have the jargon, they totally can
tune in, talk, read, and write in Englísh. In the homeroom, I had instructed how
to articulate jargon as of now; I had concentrated on elocution too. In the event
that they overlook any word, guardians need to check by applications word
reference on your telephone, you can download for nothing. If not, it would be
ideal if you get in touch with me inevitably. That is my pleasure to support your
youngsters. I likewise suggest youngsters watching Cartoon Network channel
or any outsider's channel.
2. In your perspective, where is the best spot for youngsters to learn English?
There are a few guardians consider that learning English in instructors' private
homeroom who educating at school is reasonable. In any case, some of them
accept that learning in English Center is better. How would you consider that?
My answer: Actually, it is difficult to assess which one is better. It
totally has a place with youngsters' capacity. There are advantages and
disadvantages in every condition. Learning English doesn't require insight,
however requires tolerance and ingenuity. Every instructor has various
techniques to help your youngsters learning English and I think regardless of
16

what their identity is, they might want to carry everything the best to your
kids."
There was a parent meeting me to know the strategy for educating
English. His youngster was named Nam-grade 4, adolescent 5. He enlightened
me concerning his circumstance approach English for over 20 years and
thought about that composing is the most significant ability and expected me
to give a lot of composing schoolwork. I tuned in and answered: "Honestly, I

exceptionally grateful when hearing is a proposal from you. That is the
incredible thing for Cambridge Viet English Center to improve our instructing
aptitudes." But I likewise clarified "As regular as learning Vietnamese, a child
needs to figure out how to tune in, following quite a while, while having
enough jargon; that is the time of talking, from that point forward, perusing
lastly composing. How might I let my understudy compose a passage with no
jargon? Along these lines, what any children do is tuning in. also, learning
jargon. I amazingly value your thought; let me know whether you have any
inquiries identified with instructing and learning English. Cambridge Viet
English Center will be created in the event that we have progressively earnest
remarks as you do. Much thanks to you."
I have experienced plenty of circumstances about Kids encompassed
the study hall. Being a Teacher Assistant, I bear in - mind that my conduct will
impact Kids' character. Consequently, when taking care of the issue, I must be
a decent mirror first. I might want to specify here some negative behavior
patterns as normal as crying, battling, and taking.
 Battling.

A difficult that happens at home, at school yet in addition
wherever we can see. That is battling. These days, youngsters will in general
take care of their issues by battling, they need to acquire encompassed them.
Subsequently, as a child, they reflected those brutal activities. They don't think
it to improve things or for the more terrible, they simply do what they believe
is the quickest method to take care of their issues and as different grown-ups
17

do as such, they think it is fine for them to0. Like this issue, educators were as
a parity, I would clarify that circumstance for them to comprehend. I generally
lead them in positive manners. For the individuals who had terrible practices, I

had realized that offering a bit of guidance delicately was the best.
Interestingly, great practices, praises are consistently vital for instructing kids.
 Weeping.

For kids who begin to be acquainted with the new condition as
the first run through to go to the study hall, they will in general be enthusiastic.
Obviously, once in a while they are. I was a Teaching Assistant, my obligation
around then was tenderly talking, making kids quit crying and manage
everything well, got to know with others. It sounds straightforward, yet
unquestionably scarcely work since certain understudies go to the homeroom
later than others, and I need to rouse and propel them to learn English. In
reality, I feel that was the most troublesome when I was at showing the English
condition. In the event that an understudy can get the exercise up, no issue to
state here. In any case, conversely, Teaching Assistants will go together and
lead them to the exercise as quickly as time permits.
 Taking.

In my sentiment, taking is the most confounded circumstance in
teaching kids. To clarify about taking, Ph.D. Vu Thu Huong, the instructor of
Elementary Faculty-Ha Noi University of Pedagogy stated: "In any event,
when they love something, youngsters tend need be their own. That is
definitely not a negative behavior pattern however an encounter. On the off
chance that this experience can be balanced soon, kids will be developed in the
correct way. If not, it can turn out a propensity or terrible character." I accept
that they can change their activity. What I did was recounting to an anecdote
about "Edges and Ghosts" and giving them a determination which one did they
like? That is to say, I favored them to pick what direction they needed to
follow. Nearly they love points; I proceeded with my story and indicated them

18

the advantages of being a decent kid/young lady, well beyond the terrible
things in the event that they become an awful kid/young lady.
 Lying.

Most of the understudy in 4-10 years of age will in general lie all
the more as often as possible contrasted with different ages. Getting this reality,
I generally observe things in a goal way, taking a gander at non-verbal
communication of kids to comprehend.
These issues every now and again happen in the homeroom, despite the
fact that it was a little issue, yet it certainly influenced the study hall process.
Results.
 Arrangement aptitudes: The entry level position encourages me how to
III.

organize things reasonably. Altering everything in my life is the principal thing
that urges me after the entry level position. I consider that I can accomplish
my work better in the event that I can apply the standard in my daily schedule.
 Brain research of youngsters: I have found out about the brain research of kids
in educating English. That isn't straightforward when individuals continually
hollering, forcing something in kids. I understood that I need to comprehend
their reasoning, being their companion is the best strategy to inspire them in
each angle. Aside from home, school is the second spot for youngsters to learn
new things, on account of that reasoning; it drives me to the way that I need to
work dependably.
 Tackling issue abilities: All happen in the study hall, the issue can be sprouted

from associates.
 Relational abilities: Creating the connection among family and English Center,

I have educated each
 Showing aptitudes: follow understudies in instruction condition incorporates
the conduct or learning issues of youngsters.

Finished works
After a nearly six weeks training course, I achieve the

following results: First, I have gained valuable experiences of learning through
19

practical group work. This is a significant experience that gives me a lot of
opportunities to finish well at my current position teaching English as well as
Vietnamese to foreigners, researching language and culture, knowing how to
work effectively and having enjoyable discussions with other trainees to
exchange discussions and find shared conclusions. Second, my translation and
interpreter skills have improved. I have the ability to analyze texts in different
contexts like translating an English text into Vietnamese, or vice versa. In
addition, I feel more confident when starting a conversation. Prior to my
studies, I felt insecure when I spoke English because I felt I do not know
enough to have others understand me. Now I can confidently converse with
English speakers. The opportunity to practice at an English teaching center has
helped me gain more knowledge and experiences in the field to the point I can
be successful teaching this subject. In short, the training courses have provided
me many different skills, practical experience, especially the opportunity to
work directly with many people in a professional and rigorous environment.

Unfinished works.
In period of training, there were some works which I didn't

complete well. Sometimes I have finished the job as I hope. The reasons were
that I have not mastered the skills of direct communication with foreigners.
Despite investing a lot of time to prepare but my introduction Cambridge Viet
English Center, I still made some mistakes.
 The advantages and disadvantages.
During three years in University, I have had many
opportunities to work in many different fields and experienced some real
working environment, However, the time job I had with CAMBRIDGE VIET
English center was a little bit strange for me Although prepared well for the
internship I have both advantages and disadvantages in the internship period
especially during the early days at work
The advantages.
The friendly environment at Cambridge Việt, especially
in the center, was extremely one of the advantages in my internship period
Every teacher in the center were wholehearted They were alw.. willing to guide
20

me to fulfill given tasks and tackle problems I greatly appreciate the
professional and warm working environment of the center
From my factor also contribute to the efficiency of
center productivity, In addition, I major in teaching assistant and, so I have a
considerable advantage as dealing with teaching and other tasks well.
The Disadvantages Firstl.
Cambridge Việt is a center on a small, so the teacher has
a lot of responsibilities and spending Sometimes I was pointed to undertake
some tasks that I had not had many experiences and me, therefore, took me a

lot of time to complete I also got in trouble as I had to give the mission of
arranging chairs when class is done, so I had to spend much time to deal with
them.

CHAPTER 4
CONCLUSION

I. Summary.
The internship is an important prime step for students to transfer their
theoretical knowledge into real-life practice and problem-solving at work. It
gives students a chance to also, review their choice of career by practice
working in their desired field.
I have been at Cambridge Viet English Center for a five-week worth
of internship duration and during that rather acceptable period of time, I got to
see and to learn a lot from my assigned task and interning occupation such as
communication skills, presenting skills, and arrangement skills. Moreover, not
just I have an opportunity to execute my insight acquired from talks and
teachers' encounters; yet additionally keeping up new aptitudes, new
information through each genuine circumstance that I have experienced and
understood.
The five-week entry-level position is an incredible open door I could
request to get valuable hands-on encounters that will help me a ton later on the
off chance that I keep on strolling on this profession way.
II. Experience lessons.
After five weeks of training practically at Cambridge Viet English
Center, I have learned many beneficial and interesting experiences. I have a
better grasp of the kind of work a teaching assistant at Cambridge Viet English

as learn many things which I had never known before from real-life
experiences, especially from my supervisor- Ms. Thu.
Helping with classroom management during lessons is the most
important role of a teaching assistant. When the teacher is busy working with a
student, the assistant should answer questions other students have, assist
students with. their work, and give feedback or encouragement when needed.
While the teacher is giving instructions or lecturing, I can help maintain order
by breaking up student conversations and minimizing distractions, I can also
help when students form groups or move desks in between activities to shorten
the amount of time these things take and thus ensure that students have more
time to practice English With a teaching assistant in the classroom, the
primary instructor will not have to disrupt the flow of the lesson by trying to
be in two places at once.
Finally, you need to be kind to children to be a good teaching assistant
A great teaching assistant that understands how children learn and develop
