I play football with my friends at the weekend. It takes about 2 hours to take part in each
football match.
We often play football in the stadium near my house. However, the
equipment is very modern. But when we play it, the rule is very simple. We try to get as
many goals as possible. So, a team will win if it has more goals than other.

I often enjoy a cup of coffee while reading books. My favorite books are novels and

many areas in life.

7. Describe a good law in your country/ A time you looked for information from the
internet.
I want to talk about a law. That is cigarettes are forbidden (nghiêm cấm) to be sold to young
person by sellers that is the law I support most. I had to spend more time to get the news
from the internet. The seller should not sell cigarettes as well as wines to young people under
18 years old. I think it's a good law because cigarettes are harmful to people's health,
especially the juveniles.
First of all, I think cigarettes may cause cancers and raise the rate of other diseases.
According to the statistics, smokers will have higher rate of canner disease. So juveniles who
don't smoke can protect themselves.
Secondly, I think smoking also causes lot money. So juveniles who don't smoke can save lots
of money for themselves.
And lastly, I think stopping people smoking can help protect the environment. Many public
places are not allowed people to smoke because everybody knows the cigarette is bad to
health. The reasons why I think this law is good.
8. Describe a time when you received your first cellphone/ Time that someone gave you
money as gift/ Something lost by others but found by you.
I got my first cell phone about ten years ago. At that time, the smartphone was still a concept.
That year, I passed my college exam and was going to Hanoi to study university. My father
bought me a cell phone so that I could keep in touch with my family.
3
In order to find my ideal cellphone, I carefully checked through all the shopping centers in
my city and finally decided to buy a Samsung, which cost more than 2 million VND. It was a
bit expensive and I took a lot of effort to talk my father to give me the money as a gift. It was
a slide phone. You needed to slide up the screen to reveal the keyboard. The body of the cell
phone was quite slim, which was fashionable, because most phones were still very thick and
looked like a brick. However, my friend lost it, I was very sad for a long time. Luckily, I saw
it under the table in my living room.
I was so excited to get it and I took it wherever I went during the first month, even to the
bathroom. I'm very happy when I received my first cellphone from my father.
9. Describe a skill you need long time to learn/ Useful skills you learned in a math class
from your primary/ high school/ Time you were scared/ Time that you took a medicine.
The useful skill I learned in a math class from my primary school is the multiplication form.
This form is made up of results of multiplications between all the numbers from 1 to 9. For
example, 2 multiply eight equals 16 and 3 multiply 7 equals 21.
This form is a compulsory content for all the pupils around Vietnam in their primary
education. From day one, I spent a great deal of time learning and practicing it so that I will
not forget it for my whole life. It has become my instinct and I can still speak out these
numbers without thinking.
It was a young female teacher who taught me this form. At that time, I was a slow learner.
Even if it was a very simple question, I could get the result wrong. So I felt very scare. After
that, I was sick and I had to take a lot of medicine. However, the teacher helped me to
overcome them.
It is very useful in life. When we are shopping, we often need to do some simple calculation.
Without a calculator at hand, I often resort to this multiplication form to get my numbers and
it never goes wrong.
10. Describe a growing process of a plant.
Rice plant is a very common plant which is grown in most of the places in our country by the
famers. If you go to countryside in paddy (lúa) season, you will find this plant is dancing with
the wind. This plant grows well in good land and needs a good supply of water and sunlight.
Rice is our chip food and we get rice from this paddy plant.
The paddy plant is a side plant which is thin and the leaves and body of this plant are green.
Usually, the rice seed is green in early states and becomes yellow when it is ripe (chín). Our
economy depends on our rice production. Our environment, soil, water and fields are in favor
of producing a large quantity of rice each year.
I also like it because this plant provides us rice which is our food. The taste and food value
are good. Every part of this plant has its usefulness. Our economy has a good dependency on
4
the production of rice which we get from this plant. In our country, this is probably the most
important plant we grow.
11. Describe a public facility
Now, I am going to talk about........ that I like most. It is Le Nin garden.
That is a good place to listen to slow music but it is quite crowed. During spring and summer,
everybody can see a lot of beautiful flowers such as: cherry blossoms, daisies, roses and
many other flowers in this garden. Besides, the garden also has music festival every Sunday.
People do a lot of activities there such as: walking, playing games or reading books and
listening to music. But I think the garden need to improve because it is very small so it makes
the place is very crowed.
I like this garden for many reasons: firstly, this place is very peaceful and the air is fresh.
Secondly, it helps me to relax. I feel comfortable when I come there. Every morning I always
do morning exercises in this garden in the summer.
12. A subject you didn’t think it’s was important before, but now it’s very important.
I want to talk about an interesting science lesson that I studied in high school when I was 15
years old.
I can't remember every detail, but the lesson is about breathing. We learned about how the
lungs work. However, I don't think it's very important, so I didn't focus on this lesson. After a
long time, I realized that this lesson plays an important role in people's life.
The science teacher also talked to us about the harmful effects of smoking on the lungs.
I found this lesson interesting because my teacher introduced new topics by watching a short
film about how breathing works and I can easily understand that lesson. At the end of the
lesson, we saw real photos of smokers' healthy lungs and lungs. So this is why I miss this
lesson.
13. Describe a time you received horrible service.
Now, I want to talk about a time when I received terrible service from a cafe I like to enjoy
new food and drinks. There is a new cafe but it prefers a restaurant, it has a variety of foreign
food, but terrible service. I went there once, but I didn't like it.
The waiter was unfriendly and he had a disrespectful attitude towards customers. I asked him
many questions about dishes, but he didn't answer me. The store manager always gave me the
best prices for drinks, but all the waiters were not friendly to me.
The cafe also has a very beautiful view with lots of flowers and a painting, besides that is a
bad service.
14. Talk an idea home
Now I would like to talk a new house I just bought recently. It was also my dream house.
I’m a teacher at primary school. My school where I work far my house. So last year, I made a
decision to buy a new house near school. I have to efforts very much in work to buy new
house. I work all day. Sometime I go to tutor students for an examination to earn and save a
lot of money. Finally, I have enough money to do it. I felt really excited when my family can
5
live together in big house. In my home, we felt very happy and comfortable because the
space is quite big especially a large living room. We can watch TV together after dinner.
Moreover, there is a flowers garden in front of my house. Wow. It’s very beautiful. I often see
flowers whenever I wake up in the morning.
I feel this is a good decision for me and my family.
15.
A kind of food people eat during a special event/ Something you made that you gave
to other people/ A present you received which was made by hand.
Now I would like to talk a special cake which is a traditional food in my country. It’s Chung
cake. Last year, on Tet Holiday, I went to my hometown, Thai Nguyen province with my
family. My grandparents gave me some Chung cake and I felt very happy. That time, my
grandparents taught me how to make a Chung cake. I made two piece of Chung cake and
gave them for my best friend. My mother said me that Chung cake is very popular in my
country people often make it in some special occasions and it is considered as the traditional
cake in my country. It is made from sticky rice, pork and green bean. It takes about one day to
make cakes. I really like the taste and flavors it is very delicious.. It also has a special
meaning in my country people say that it can bring them lucky when they eat it.
16. Describe a complaint you made and you were satisfied with the result.
As a student who lives far away from home, I am left with no choice but staying with others
in the university's dorm. As I was the youngest person in the room, others made me do all the
household chores. This happened exactly one year ago.
It was one of my roommates who was a senior of the University of Science. He was a couch
potato who could spend a whole day keeping his eyes glued to a screen to play games and
never got rid of his garbage, which caused the room to be so untidy and made me raise my
voice.
I had just caught him littering inside the room in broad daylight when I started to complain.
Respectfully, I told him that, while others strived to keep the room clean as we did not have
much time to clean the room every single day, he made all our efforts go to waste.
On hearing our complaints, he gave us an apology and promised to change himself and give
others a hand with household chores.
17. Describe a period in history which has always interested you
If I could go in a time machine, I would choose to go back to the glorious time of Hong Bang
period in about 2000 BC, the very first days of my country.
At that time, this place wasn’t called Vietnam, it was under the rule of Hung Kings and was
named Van Lang instead. What I find fascinating about this era is the legends and myths
which I learned from History and Literature class back in school. Van Lang was a small
country yet it was frequently invaded by the mysterious people. Whenever this period of time
is mentioned, people will immediately relate to hundreds of wars, some even last for decades.
6
Moreover, many of modern Vietnamese cultural practices also date back to this era, like
cooking sticky rice cakes and displaying five-fruit trays on Tet holiday. This era can be
considered as the cradle of our culture. I am always curious about the origin of our customs,
and I believe that going back to this time could provide me with first-hand experience as well
as a thorough understanding of my country’s tradition.
18. Describe a game you used to play in your childhood
Hill, the blue sky and the playmates of my childhoods were my best part of my lively and
magical childhood. I used to play lots of games in my childhood and among them blindman’s-buff was one of my most favorite
This game required minimum 4-5 kids to play. Initially, one kid would be selected to be
blindfolded and she/he can’t see anything. A big circle would be drawn and no one is allowed
to go out of this circle. The blind folded kid would try to catch someone while others would
try to protect themselves but would not be able to go outside the circle. If the blindfolded kid
can touch someone and can say his/her name, the blindfolded kid would get free and the other
one who was touched would be blindfolded this time. This was the basic rules of the game
and we used to play this game according to this rule
I mostly played this game with my cousins, neighboring kids and classmates. I was then
around 4-5 years old and the other kids whom I used to play with were around the same age.
