ABSTRACT
In the trend of integration today, English has become an essential tool in communication
field and business activities. Vietnam is a developing country so learning English is very
necessary. To catch that need, Galaxy Language Center was set up to create a professional
English learning environment for learners. Established in 2008, Galaxy Language Center
has made wonderful efforts and achieved considerable achievements in the field of
international language training. Galaxy provides education programs such as English for
preschoolers, English for children, English for teenagers, English for communication and
key training courses such as TOEIC, TOEFL and IELTS. The management teams, all
employees and teachers always strive for innovation and development to integrate with
the growing society. With the permission of Faculty of English, Thu Duc College of
Technology and Galaxy English Center, I had an opportunity to study and learn about the
center in general. My internship is divided into two chapters includes Internship content
in chapter I and Internship reflection in chapter II. When it comes to chapter I, it consists
of introduction of the center, internship process, internship tasks and task analysis. In
respect of chapter II, there are reflecting on task management, staff relationship, center’s
regulation and the relationship of theory and practice.

ACKNOWLEDGEMENT
During the period of internship, I received a plenty of enthusiastic help and support that
guide and encourage me to overcome all difficulties and finish this hard but meaningful
time. First of all, I would like to express my deep gratitude to teacher guide - Mrs. Pham


Hoang Minh Thao. She not only gave me knowledge but also taught me life skills to step
into the life. Secondly, I would like to appreciate Mr. Trinh Vuong Khoi who introduced
this center and gave me a chance to practice. Particularly, I would like to thank sincerely
to Ms. Vo Thi Luong – my supervisor and vulnerable teacher who teaches and supports
me a lot during my internship. Finally, I would like to be thankful to Mrs. Nguyen Thi
Hien – Director of the center and all staffs in Galaxy English Center for helping me
during my internship. Furthermore, I would like to thank employees come from
marketing department, who often shared my feelings and gave me timely advice during
the internship.
In short, I really thank to all people helping me to finish this internship report.

1.1 Description of the company, internship process and internship tasks.
1.1.1 Introduction of the company

Galaxy English Center was established in 2008. Galaxy English Center is proud of
its large, prestigious and quality Engli
sh training system with 18 branches in Ho Chi Minh City, Binh Duong, Kon Tum, Phu
Yen, Ha Tinh and Binh Dinh Province.
It is located at 217-219 Nguyen Duy Trinh Street, Binh Trung Tay Ward, District 2, Ho
Chi Minh City.

The center creates a slogan “Yes, We can!” and always accompanies students during their
studies to build a solid foundation for their future success.
In Picture 1, the office of center is place where staffs welcome students, present courses
to students and parents, listen to and answer questions from parents.

The center has many modern equipment. For example, two air-conditions, one

Foreign and native teachers are highly qualified. All teachers have certifications
and have much experience of teaching. Some teachers have IELTS degrees with

The center achieved many achievements with many diplomas and medals such as
Cambridge certificates: KET, PET, FCE, CAE and CPE.

The center lacks highly qualified Vietnamese teachers.
Some classrooms are not large enough.

This organizational chart shows a ranked. The Director is head of the organization. Below
the Director there is a Manager, who is directly responsible to the Director. Besides, there
are the Academic Affair Department, the Accountant Department and the Marketing &
Sales Department.

1.1.8 Corporate operation

At Galaxy English Center, students not only learn English but also join in many afterschool activities. For example, in Picture 3, students attended the Spring Festival. This
was a chance for students to understand traditional food and take part in fun games with
their families and friends. Therefrom, students understood the meaning of the national
holiday. Moreover, they also developed both physically and mentally. Besides, students
also participated in the Galaxy Kids English Homestay. In the program, students visited
the historical museums, learnt how to swim, played football, danced, joined in Galaxy’s
got talent, went shopping and cooked. This was an opportunity for students to learn about
the history of Vietnam, create independence and improve health.
Particularly, in Picture 4, at Christmas in 2017, Galaxy English Center had celebrated a
volunteer program called “Sweet Christmas night”. Almost members who are teachers
and staffs of center travelled to District 2, District 9 and awarded many scholarships and
gifts for poor students.
1.2 Internship process and internship tasks

During my internship course at Galaxy English Center, I have finished a lot of tasks

which are very important. I work as an English teaching assistant in the center. In the
center, all the members in the team have to maintain the students and their parent
relationships by using professional technique, politeness, demeanor behavior and
necessary knowledge. Therefore, I think that English assistant is a very enjoyable and
interesting job. Furthermore, this is also a great opportunity to improve my English skills
such as listening, speaking and apply things which I learnt at school into the workplace.

1.2.1 Intership process

The first day, I had a great opportunity to meet Mrs. Nguyen Thi Hien - Director of center
and all staff there. After socializing with everybody in the center, the supervisor had a
short presentation about the center as well as job descriptions, and then I read the specific
documents and informations about the center and some rules when working at the center.
I think this working environment is an wonderful opportunity for me to practice my
English, especially reading, writing and speaking skills and some other soft skills such as
communication skills, interpersonal skills, situation-solving skills and negotiating skills
which are extremely important and necessary for my future works.


1.2.2 Internship tasks

I spent six weeks on training and practical teaching at the center. I went to the center
three- day a week in the afternoon.
- On Tuesday and Thursday: from 4 p.m to 8:30 p.m
- On Saturday: from 2:30 p.m to 5:30 p.m

1.3 Task analysis

Through six weeks of training process at Galaxy English Center, I not only got a variety
of valuable working experiences which I have not learned in my college but also
improved my soft skills such as communication skills. From my perspective, I strongly
believe that these precious experience will help for my work in the future. The following
are teaching experience which I gained during this training course.
Firstly, the training course brought to me the opportunity to use my English knowledge
through communicating with foreign teachers. I recognized that my English is improved
better because I had to work with foreign teachers daily.
Secondly, with the help of Ms. Thai, I learned how to design syllabuses. I also had a
chance to practice doing something in the office such as using computer, copying, typing
and printing.
Finally, I also learned many important skills such as how to attract students and how to
work with staffs. In spite of short time of internship course, it made me feel more
confident than before. As an English teaching assistant, I also learned some good
characteristics like attentiveness, initiative, maturity, positive attitude and independence.
In conclusion, after internship process, I felt grow-up with experience which I have
gained in the center. These experiences, I always had written recorded carefully as fund
of knowledge by myself.

Chapter II

INTERNSHIP RELECTION

2.1 Reflecting on task management
During the internship time, I had a lot of advantages such as having knowledge about
IELTS, knowing how to use the computer, having a little experience in teaching and
receiving support from everybody in the center. Nevertheless, there were some
disadvantages in terms of my internship time. First, I lacked teaching technique, so it
became my weaknesses when I had to teach and manage a class. Second, I lacked
teamwork skills. Therefore, sometimes there are some disagreements with members in a
team. It is true that there were a lot of difficulties during my internship time but I always
made all the efforts to finish the tasks on time. Thanks to some knowledge at the college,
together with experiences when I had a part-time job and the support from staffs, I found
good ways to solve problems easily.
2.2 Reflecting on staff relationship

In order to finish all the tasks during my internship process, I had to build up a good
relationship with everybody in the center. When I worked at the center, I have interacted
with many people not only the staffs but also students. Besides, I took this opportunity to
practice and improve my skills. I have applied a lot of skills which I learned from the
college to the center such as communication skill, negotiating skill. For example, the first
day at the center, I have a chance to introduce myself to all the departments, this made me
feel more confident when I came to center everyday because all of staffs have known me
already. I gained many experiences and improved myself such as receiving a huge of
supporting, improving my team-work skill, practicing my soft-skills and gaining some
new experiences. However, there is also a drawback. I had some disagreements with my
supervisor but things have been resolved

2.3 Reflecting on the company’s regulation

Galaxy English Center requires that all staffs must wear uniforms which is red T-shirt and
black skirts for females or black pants for males. Furthermore, employees who work late
or overtime must ensure all lights, air-conditions and fans are shut off when they leave
the workplace. In addition, employees must not leave the work area without permission
from supervisor.
In comparison, I recognized that these rules are similar with what I have learned in the
college. During my internship time at Galaxy, I found that these rules are very important
if I want to be a professional English teaching assistant. Moreover, as I researched, any
company have their own rules but they based on some general things like no smoking in
the office and wearing uniform. For example, the first day I went to the center, director of
the center presented rules of the center and required me to execute. I strongly believe that
I cannot have any good career in the future without these needed rules.
2.4 Reflecting on relationship of theory and practice

As an English teaching assistant at the center, I could find that my teacher at the college
passed down many valuable knowledge and experiences. It helps me a lots to cope with
any situations at the center. For example, I learned how to write a CV and a cover letter
when I studied interview subject so I could find a job for the internship course by myself.
I personally think that all the subject in my college play an important role in any aspects
of life. But as far as I concerned, the practice is extremely different from theory. For
example, in the college, I studied English for advertising and marketing but it is just a
theory. I rarely have a chance to approach with the real situations. However, I had
internship at Galaxy English Center, I took this opportunity to broaden my horizon about

marketing strategies and teaching methods.

CONCLUSION
I had six weeks to do an internship at Galaxy English Center, which has a professional
working environment. During the time of working there, I had learned many things such
as teaching method or communication with customer from the head of center, teachers
and all employees. They helped me so much about designing lessons, making lesson
plans and teaching. I can also learn many useful skills which will be helpful for my future
career. I think I cannot forget the time I work there and I have to say many thanks all
people at Galaxy English Center. Moreover, I special thank Ms. Vo Thi Luong and Mrs.
Pham Hoang Minh Thao who are willing to help me finish my report in time.
