II. WARM UP (5 minutes)
Matching:


- Divide the students into teams.
- Ask students to write down two sentences on two
different pieces of paper; each sentences begins
with: ...
- Collect these pieces and put them into two
different bags.
- Ask students to pick up the paper one at a time,
read it loudly to the whole class.
- Those who have the the funniest matching will be
the winner.

- Pick one example from the Matching game.

- Ask students to do exercise 1 on page 28, 29 in

- tháng: in January (vào tháng 1)
- năm: in 1990 (vào năm 1990)
- mùa: in the summer (vào mùa hè)
2. Prepositions of time
- thế kỷ: in the eighteenth century (vào thế kỷ
18)
- thập kỷ: in the 1980s (vào những năm 80)
- phần của ngày: in the morning, in the
afternoon..., ngoại trừ at night
Ex: She was born in 1995
2. On (vào) dùng cho ngày, ngày tháng,
ngày tháng năm và các ngày cụ thể
- ngày trong tuần: on Monday (vào thứ hai)

- buổi của ngày trong tuần: on Sunday morning
(vào sáng Chủ nhật)
- ngày tháng: on October 20 (vào ngày 20
tháng 10)
- ngày tháng năm: on 29 March 1975 (vào ngày
29 tháng 3 năm 1975)
- ngày cụ thể: on my birthday (vào ngày sinh
nhật của tôi)
Ex: My birthday falls on Wednesday this year
3. At (lúc, vào lúc) dùng cho thời gian
trong ngày và những dịp lễ
- giờ: at 6 p.m. (lúc 6 giờ chiều)
- tuổi: at the age of five (lúc 5 tuổi)
- night, noon, midday, Christmas, bed time/
lunch time/ dinner time: at midnight (lúc nửa
đêm)
- two or three days, meal time
Ex:
We often have a short holiday at Christmas
(Vào lễ giáng sinh chúng tơi thường có một

4. for (trong khoảng thời gian)
- for two hours: trong hai giờ
- for 10 minutes: trong 10 phút

- since ten past eight: từ 8 giờ 10
- since Monday: từ thứ Hai

- since 15 April: từ ngày 15 tháng 4
- since 1975: từ năm 1975
- since Christmas: từ lễ Giáng sinh
- since last year: từ năm ngối
- since we were chidren: từ khi cịn nhỏ
Ex:
I've been waiting since a quarter past ten (Tôi
đã đợi từ lúc 10 giờ 15)
We've known each other since being chidren/
we were children (Chúng tơi quen nhau từ khi
cịn nhỏ)
6. till/ until (đến, cho đến khi)
Ex:
He'll be at work until/ till half past five (Anh ấy
sẽ làm việc đến 5 giờ rưỡi)
I slept from 9 am till/ until 4 pm (Tôi đã ngủ từ 9
giờ sáng đến 4 giờ chiều)
7. before (trước, trước khi)
Ex:
She regularly goes for a run before breakfast
(Cô ấy thường chạy bộ trước khi ăn điểm tâm)

8. after (sau, sau khi)
Ex:
I'll see you after the meeting (Tôi sẽ gặp anh
sau cuộc họp)
9. up to (đến, cho đến)
Ex:
Up to now he's been quiet (Cho đến giờ anh ta
vẫn im lặng)
Workers are fored to work up to 19 hours a day
in some factories (Trong một số nhà máy, công
nhân bị buộc phải làm việc đến 19 tiếng một
ngày)
10. between (giữa hai khoảng thời gian/
ngày/ tháng)
Ex:
The office will be closed between Chritsmas and
New Year (Văn phịng sẽ đóng cửa trong khoảng

(Tôi thường rãnh vào khoảng từ thứ Ba đến thứ

Lưu ý: Không dùng các giới từ in, on, at
trước every, last, next, this, tomorrow,
yesterday
Ex:
I'll come and see you next summer (Hè năm
sau tôi sẽ đến thăm bạn)
