Living Things

Non living things

• Living things are the
creatures that are alive and
made up of cells.

• Non-living things refers to
objects or items, that do not
exhibit any sign of life.

• They are organized

• No form of organization

• They sense things and react
to external stimulus. E.g.
smell, touch, light etc


• Non-living things do not
sense things.


Differences between living & nonliving things

Non living things

• They need food to get energy
so as to carry out their
activities e.g. movement,
growth, etc.

• They do not eat and thus
remain the same. E.g. your
camera, TV, radio do not
need eat.

• Living things are born, grow
and die.

• They do not grow and tend
to stay the same.

• Movement: living things move
in search of food, company etc

• They do not move on their
own.

Non living things

• They breathe in different
ways.

• They do not breathe since
they do not grow.

• Living things reproduce e.g.
through birth or seeds that
grow.

• They do not reproduce e.g. a
piece or rock does not make
children.

• Evolution: living things go
through the process of
adaptation and evolution.

• Nonliving things do not
adapt and evolve.
