Có động từ có tính đề nghị,
mệnh lệnh như: look, listen, watch
out, keep silent, smell, feel, sound,
taste.


Lưu ý
a) Thì hiện tại đơn:
Trong câu khẳng định, nếu chủ ngữ của thì hiện tại đơn ở ngơi thứ 3 số ít hoặc là danh
từ số ít hoặc là danh từ khơng đếm được, ta cần thêm đuôi s/es vào sau động từ. Có 3
quy tắc bạn cần nhớ:
(1) Các động từ kết thúc bằng “o, x, sh, ch, sh, ss” thêm đuôi “es”
Ví dụ: Teach - teaches, fix - fixes, go - goes
(2) Các động từ kết thúc bằng “nguyên âm + y”, đổi “y” thành “i” và thêm đi
“es”
Ví dụ: Study - studies, carry - carries, fly - flies, cry - cries, copy - copies
(3) Các động từ còn lại thêm thêm đi “s”

Ví dụ: Leave - leaves, cook - cooks, move - moves, play - plays, buy - buys,
Trường hợp bất quy tắc: Ngồi các từ có quy tắc kể trên, có một động từ bất quy tắc
là HAVE, sẽ được chuyển thành HAS.
b) Thì hiện tại tiếp diễn:
(1) Đối với động từ kết thúc bằng “e” → bỏ “e” và thêm -ing
Ví dụ: Lose - losing, love - loving, change - changing, write - writing

(2) Đối với động từ 1 âm tiết, kết thúc bằng “nguyên âm + phụ âm”, → gấp đôi
phụ âm và thêm - ing
Ví dụ: Stop - stopping, sit - sitting, swim - swimming, run - running, drop - dropping, skip
- skipping, hit - hitting
(3) Đối với động từ có nhiều âm tiết, kết thúc bằng phụ âm + nguyên âm + phụ
âm, sẽ có hai trường hợp
 Nếu trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết cuối, thêm -ing như bình thường. Ví dụ:
Demonstrate - demonstrating
 Nếu trọng âm rơi vào âm tiết cuối, gấp đôi phụ âm cuối, thêm -ing. Ví dụ:
Submit - submitting
(4) Đối với động từ kết thúc bằng đi “ie”, đổi “ie” thành “y” và thêm “ing”
Ví dụ: Lie - Lying, tie - tying, die – dying
(5) Các động từ về các giác quan, tình cảm, hoạt động tinh thần hoặc chỉ sở hữu.
- Động từ chỉ giác quan: be, feel, hear, look, see, smell, sound, taste, notice.
“Do you hear someone crying?” – “No, I don’t hear anyone crying. Maybe it’s just the
sound of the wind blowing in the trees.”
- Động từ chỉ tình cảm: like, love, hate, dislike, detest, fear, desire, need, respect, want,
wish.
I didn’t use to listen to classical music, but now I like it so much.
- Động từ chỉ hoạt động tinh thần: believe, know, mean, realize, recognize, remember,
understand, suppose, think (that).

I believe the kids are enjoying themselves at the beach.
- Động từ chỉ sở hữu: belong to, owe, own, possess, contain, consist of, depend on,
have (có).
“How much do you owe me now, Ted?” – “ I’m sorry I don’t remember!”

1. Mạo từ không xác định: A/AN
Mạo từ không xác định hay mạo từ bất định là mạo từ ln đứng trước danh từ có
thể đếm được số ít, không được đề cập trước và thường được sử dụng trong câu
mang tính chung chung.
Trường hợp sử dụng mạo từ “A”
Trước các N bắt đầu bằng phụ
âm: a year, a house, a month,..

Trước các N bắt đầu bằng “u”
nhưng được đọc là /ju/: a university, a
union, a uniform,..

Dùng trong một số cụm từ chỉ số
lượng nhất định: a lot of (nhiều), a
great deal of (nhiều), a half (một nửa),
a third (một phần ba),..

Dùng để giới thiệu nghề nghiệp,

2. Mạo từ xác định: THE
Mạo từ "The" đứng trước danh từ xác định và chỉ đến đối tượng cụ thể, đối tượng đã
được nhắc đến trước đó và được cả người nói và người nghe đều biết đến. ‘The’
dùng được cho cả N khơng đếm được, N đếm được số ít và N đếm được số nhiều

Khi vật thể nhắc đến được coi là
duy nhất.

Khơng dùng “The” trước danh từ
không đếm được hoặc danh từ số
nhiều theo nghĩa chung, không chỉ
một trường hợp nào.

Không đặt “The” trước tên châu
lục, ngọn núi, hòn đảo, tên núi, tên
hồ, tên đường.

Không dùng “The” trước tên quốc
gia, tiểu bang, thành phố,..

Khơng dùng “The” trước tính từ
sở hữu hoặc danh từ sở hữu cách.

Trước câu so sánh hơn nhất,
trước first (thứ nhất), second (thứ
hai), only (duy nhất), …
Trước N số ít biểu trưng cho
nhóm hay lồi động vật.

Đặt “The” trước danh từ riêng chỉ
biển, sông, quần đảo, dãy núi, tên

Trước tên quốc gia có từ

hoặc tên quốc gia ở số nhiều:

Sử dụng “The” trước họ của một
gia đình (mang nghĩa là cả gia đình,
