Today, abroad or in the world, tourism has become a spearhead economic sector of the world in general and Vung Tau in particular, making an important contribution to national economic income, solving unemployment. is on an increasing trend.

And in Vietnam in recent years, tourism activities have prospered and reached 20,500 billion VND compared to 1991, nearly 9.4 times higher. Tourism activities have created jobs for about 220,000 direct workers and tens of thousands of indirect workers. Resolution of the IX Party Congress has determined: "Development of tourism really becomes a spearhead economic sector".

However, with some with rich and diverse natural resources like in Vung Tau, the development of the tourism industry today is worthy of its potential and position. This fact is due to many subjective and objective reasons, in which there are many existing problems and inadequacies at both macro and micro levels that cause difficulties for tourism development that need to be resolved.

The development of tourism that is not well planned and managed properly has been causing harmful consequences and impacts on the natural, economic and social environment. Developing tourism more sustainably than ever is urgently needed to solve these problems and ensure the development of the tourism industry today and in the future.

And the sustainable tourism development of Vung Tau will be assessed through the green destination 2.0 standard. Based on the assessment topics, compare Vung Tau with other destination, thereby pointing out strengths and weaknesses to find ways to promote and overcome.

The Green Destinations Standard is a tool to measure, monitor and improve the sustainability profile of destinations and regions. The Green Destinations Standard for sustainable destination development and management satisfies the need to make sustainable development concrete, objective and demonstrable. Destinations worldwide

can adapt their sustainability management system and implementation actions to the requirements the Green Destinations standard and obtain recognition of their efforts. The Green Destinations standard is inspired by internationally recognised standards such as ETIS, ISO 14001, EMAS and the Global Reporting Initiative. The standard is “Recognised” by the Global Sustainable Tourism Council (GSTC).

The Green Destinations Standard originates from an assessment system to gauge sustainability and quality of coastal destinations: the QualityCoast programme. Based on this system, an initial Global Sustainable Tourism Review (GSTR) was developed to cover also non-coastal destinations. Through a consultation round in the months of July-August 2015 under Green Destinations partners, the current Green Destinations Standard was developed.

THEME 1: DESTINATION MANAGEMENT

According to the line graph, it can be seen that Theme 1 of Vung Tau is approximately equal to Theme 1 of Ninh Binh at 3.5 points, 0.5 points higher than Da Lat and 0.6 points lower than Nha Trang. The point is neither too high nor too low, because, besides the strengths in destination management, there are also weaknesses that exist in parallel.

strong province in industry, seaport, tourism and hi-tech agriculture. Striving to 2025 to continue to be the leading province in the country in terms of GRDP per capita. Weakness:

Tourism promotion has not kept pace with development needs.

The lack of professionalism in tourism activities. The business linkage between enterprises is not close; The number of high-class tourists and international visitors is still low.

The exploitation, protection and investment for historical and religious tourism have not been focused.

The exploitation of marine resources for tourism lacks synchronous planning, lacks policies to improve and protect the environment.

Infrastructure for tourism has not met development requirements. The number of high-quality hotels and resorts in BRVT is small, the rooms are mainly of 2-3 star standards and are relatively old, while the number of new and modern rooms invested in construction is not much.

The price of tourism services is still high compared to other countries in the region while the quality of service and the value that tourists receive is lower than what they spend.

The situation of individuals and organizations encroaching on the coastal alluvial plains and building makeshift huts for food service, parking or building toilets and baths with fresh water in a spontaneous fashion has been "shredded" beach. Objects of street vendors, street photography, street tickets, motorbike taxis, beggars, and theft appear more and more. The situation of arbitrarily bringing vehicles to circulate along the beach; catching seafood right at the beach has not been prevented or handled.

Ba Ria - Vung Tau tourism has a low starting point; awareness of all levels and sectors about the position and role of tourism is limited and inconsistent; lack of preferential policies to attract investment and mobilize local people to work together in tourism, the organizational apparatus and staff in both management and tourism business are still inadequate; the coordination work on a number of specific activities has not yet

For a long time, BR-VT tourism is often crowded on weekends and summer, so there are still many limitations in sustainable development. That is the situation in which hotels, resorts, and resorts are always full of guests on weekends, holidays, and Tet, but they are sluggish in the first days of the week.
