Lesson 1/59: Getting started + Listen and Read
A. Aim:
By the end of the lesson, students will be able to do something to protect the
environment and save natural resources.
*. Lexical item : Protect , representative , mean , fertilizer , reduce , reuse.
*. Skill : Listening and reading.
*. Techniques : Practice in paits .
*. Teaching aids: posters, pictures, tape.

I. Warmer:

II. Pre-reading:

- Set the scene: A representative from Friends of the Earth, Miss Blake, is talking
to the students of Quang Trung School. Friends of the Earth shows people how to
protect the environment and save natural resources.
- Put the chart with the T/ F statements on the board.
a. Friends of the Earth is an organization to help people make friends with each
other.
b. Miss Blake asks the sts to remember 3 things: reduce, reuse, recycle.
c. Reduce means buying the products which are overpacked.
d. We can not reuse things like envelopes, glass, plastic bottles, old plastic bags.
e. Miss Blake says that we should use cloth bags and shouldn’t use plastic bags at
all.
f. Recycling means not just throwing things away but trying and finding another

use for them.
- Ask ss to read the statements then guess which one is true or which one is false.
III. While-reading:
1. Checking ss' guess:
- Let ss to look at the book on p.89-90 and read the dialogue and check their
predictions.
- Ss work in pairs.

Recycling

Lesson 2/60: Speak + Listen
A- Aim:
By the end of this lesson sts will be able to practice using new vocabulary
related to recycling and to introduce and practice writing noun clauses.
*. Grammar : Adj + Noun clause.
*. Lexical item : Grain , heap , rat , include , condensation , shell.
*. Skill : Listening and speaking.
*. Techniques : Practice in spairs and group.
*. Teaching aids: Poster, cards.
B- Content:
* Warm up:
- Gradual pictures, Draw gradual pictures for Ss guess. (2-3 of the words below).
Then run through the whole set of word cards that will be used for the sorting
activity.
Book, banana peel, can, shirt, old shoe, bottle, toy car, envelope, hat, bowl

Put them on the board so students can see them.
I. Speaking:
1. Pre speaking:
a. Vocabulary: Plastic, vegetable matter, leather, fabric, metal. Pronunciation
target: stress pattern in “plastic” and “fabric” ( on first syllable. Writte them on the

board in a table (seeblow)

4. Grammar Presentation: Noun Clauses. Write on the board.
“ I’m happy that you can divide these things into categories. You did very well”
Form, meaning, & use of Adj + noun clauses.
5. Brainstorm adjectives about feelings:
Ex. Happy, sad, sure....
T: Put a poster with some noun clauses on the board, Ss try to write sentences
using the adjectives they brainstormed and the noun clauses.
1- You invited me to your birthday party.
2- My friend is moving to Hanoi
3- She passed the exam
4- We don’t have time to see the movie
5- The recycling club is going to meet on Saturday.
Tell Ss to try to write a sentence using I am adj + that + clauses . Do one example :
I’m happy my friend is moving to Hanoi. Or I’m sad that my friend is moving to
Hanoi. Tell Ss that they can use any adjective that makes sense.
II. Listening:
