A- Aims:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to understand the content of the
dialogue and practice reading it and express their opinions about a problem.
*. Grammar : The present perfect tense with already and yet.
*. Lexical item : printer , manual , plug , socket , connect , under guarantee
Properly.
*. Skill : Speaking and reading.
*. Techniques : Practice in pairs and group.
*. Teaching aids: Cassette; poster.
*. Anticipated problems: Some Ss will get difficulty in deciding facts or opinions.
B- Contents:
I. Warm up:

Brainstorm (Getting started)

• Computers can help us:
- learn foreign language.
- save time.
- learn more quickly.
- store much more information.
- play games, listen to music.
- easy/ convenient for keeping information.
- learn interestingly.
- get or send information easily and rapidly.


- work much faster and more effectively.
II. Listen and Read:

*Set the scene: The printer isn’t working. Nam and his father, Mr Nhat are talking
about the problem of the printer. What happens to it?
- Put the poster on the board and have Ss guess which statements are true and
which are false.
a. The printer isn't working.
b. Nam has already turned the printer on.
c. Nam knows how to connect a printer but he hasn't connected it properly.
d. The manual helped them to find out the problem.
e. Mr. Nhat bought the printer in Ho Chi Minh city and it's still under guarantee.
f. Mr. Nhat thinks the company wouldn't do anything with his computer because
it's too far from his place.

3. Read and check:
- Have Ss listen to to the tape.
- Open the book. Look at the dialogue and listen to the tape.
- Have Ss listen and repeat.
- Have Ss read the dialogue in pairs.


- Ask Ss to check their predictions.

4. Fact and Opinion.
- Expain the words fact and opinion.
+ Fact: a thing that is known to be true, especially when it can be proved.

+ Opinion: Your feelings or thoughts about someone or something, rather than a
fact.
- Show the poster with fact and opinion statements on the board.
- Get Ss to check the boxes.
- Give feedback and correct.

III. Grammar note:
- Have Ss answer the questions:
+ What does Mr Nhat ask Nam when the printer isn’t working ?
+ How does Nam answer?

- Learn by heart Vocabulary.
- Read the dialogue carefully.
- Do exercises in workbook (Unit 15).
- Prepare for next lesson: Speak + Listen.

Lesson 2/ 90: Speak + Listen
A- Aims:
By the end of the lesson, Ss will be able to use some common useful
expressions to express agreement and disagreement and listen for details to
complete a flow chart.
*. Skill : Speaking and listening.
*. Techniques : Practice in pairs and group.
*. Teaching aids: Pictures, poster, cassette, tape.
*. Anticipated problems: Some Ss will get difficulty in listening.
B- Contents:
I. Warm up:

Jumbled words.

II. Speaking:
1. Presentation:
- Show Ss the pictures.
- Show Ss the poster
- Have Ss read the adjectives in the box.
- Give examples:
S1 : I think computers are useful

S2 : So do I / ( I disgree. I think they are unnecessary)
* Picture a :
S1 : I think driving a car is easy
I think driving a car is difficult
I think driving a car is dangerous


S2 : I agree / so do I
I agree but .............
Yes, but on the other hand ........
- Ask Ss to tell the ways to give someone's opinions, agreement, degree of
agreement and disagreement.
- Draw the table on the board and have ss copy.
2. Practice:
- Have Ss work in pair ( open – closed)
- Have Ss do exercise 2
+ Call on two students to read the dialogue.
- Show Ss the poster (P140)
- Have Ss read the information.
- Make similar dialogue.
*Example:
S1: I’m having problems with my printer.
S2: What’s wrong?
S1: It won’t print I think it’s broken.
S2: No. You didn’t turn it on.
S1: Oh! Sorry.
- Give feedback and correct.
III. Listen:
1- Pre Listening:
- Show Ss the poster.
