Pre-reading Lead-in:
-Teacher gives a picture of Hoa and asks some questions
about Hoa:
-Where’s she from?
-Who is she staying with? Where?
-What grade is she in?
Answer: She’s in grade 7, she goes to junior high

school. And Hoa is Tim’s penpal
Teacher explains new words: junior high school, penpal
Today Hoa has a letter from Tim. He lives in America.
He is in grade 7, too
Task 1: Tell me what Tim write about?(scanning)

Task 2 : What do students in America do at recess?
Ss listen to the tape the second time.and answer

Task 3 : Ss do multiple choice exercise under the text.
