Unit 2: Making arrangements
Period No 7: Getting started & listen and read
Date:25/8/08
I. Objectives:
- After learning, Ss will be able to talk about intentions with "be going to",
use the telephone to make and confirm arrangements, take a telephone message.
II. Language content:
Sturure: S + be + going to V…/ Can I speak to…..,please?
Vocabulary: Hold on, downstairs >< upstairs, outside>< inside
III.Teaching aids: Textbook, cassette, picture, poster.

Picture drill:
- Gives the pictures in the textbook and asks
"what is this".
- Answer the questions in Vietnamese.
- Gives some posters and asks S to match them
with the pictures.
- Asks Ss to listen and repeat the words in poster.
Set the scene: Nga and Hoa are talking on the
phone. They are talking about going to see a
movie.
- Ask students to guess the questions a- f on page
19
- Ask students to listen to the tape and answer the
questions


- Ss practice the dialogue in pairs:
- Some pairs read out begin class ( correct S's
mistakes)
- Corrects guessing and prounciation
Comprehension questions:
a, What's Nga's telephone number?
b, Which movie are they going to see? Where?
c, How is Hoa going to see a movie?
d, Where are they going to meet ? What time?
Note:
- Hold on (Synonym) wait some minutes
- Where is it on?

with "be going to")

* Gives "open dialogue" (with other situation)
- To ask Ss to practice in pairs.

listening about using the telephone to make and confirm arrangements.

Brainstorming:
- Ask Ss to talk about the importance of the
telephone.
- Use the picture in textbook to introduce
Alenxander Graham Bell who invented the

- Hang the posters of T/F on the board and ask
students to guess which they are T/F
- Ask Ss to read the passage in silence and check
their prediction.
- Correct their prediction and correct the false
sentences. T corrects last once.
