1. Present simple tense ( HiÖn t¹i ®¬n)
*) Verbs to be“ ” (§éng tõ to be ):“ ”
I + am : I am in grade 6.

He /She /It + is : He is the best student in my class.
We /You /They + are : They are Nam’s brothers.
- ChuyÓn sang thÓ phñ ®Þnh, ta chØ viÖc thªm “not” sau ®éng tõ “to be”:
+ I am not a student.
+ They are not Nam’ brothers.
- ChuyÓn sang thÓ nghi vÊn, ta chØ viÖc ®a ®éng tõ “to be” lªn tríc chñ ng÷:

b) Uses ( Cách dùng): Diễn đạt một thói quen ở hiện tại, một nhận định chung chung, một
sự thật, một chân lý .
c) Adverbs ( Trạng từ th ờng đi kèm với thì Hiện tại đơn) : always, usually, often, sometimes,
rarely , never ( thờng đặt ở ngay sau động từ to be và tr ớc động từ thờng) ; everyday
/week/ month,/year ( th ờng đặt cuối câu)
Ex: + Lan is always late for school.
+ He always practises English in the evenings.

2) Present progressive tense ( Hiện tại tiếp diễn)
a) Form ( Hình thức)
(+) S + am/ is/ are + V-ing ..
(-) S + am not/ isnt/ arent + V-ing. ..
(?) Am/ Is/ Are + S + V-ing. ..
Wh- question + am/ is/ are + S + V-ing ..?
Ex: + We are studying English .
+ She isnt listening to music . She is going out.
+ What are you doing ? I am doing my homework.
b) Uses ( Cách dùng): Diễn đạt một hành động đang xảy ra tại thời điểm nói. Ngoài ra còn
diễn đạt một hành động sẽ xảy ra trong tơng lai gần ( tơng lai chắc chắn, có dự định .)
c) Adverbs ( Trạng từ th ờng đi kèm với thì Hiện tại tiếp diễn) : Now, at present, at the
moment, right now.
Ex: + They are playing soccer now.
+ Peter is writing a letter to his mother at the moment.
Chú ý: - Động từ be không sử dụng trong thì HTTD, thay bằng thì HTĐ.
Ex: + It is cold now. ( không đợc nói: It is being cold now)
+ She is hot at this moment. ( không đợc nói: She is being hot at this moment. )
- Động từ chỉ tri giác, cảm giác, nhận thức nh: think (nghĩ), know (biết), understand
(hiểu), love (yêu), like (thích), feel (cảm thấy), believe(tin tởng) ..cũng không đ ợc sử
dụng trong thì HTTD, thay bằng thì HTĐ.

Ex: + She feels hot. ( không đợc nói: She is feeling hot)
+ Now, I know how to use the Present tense ( không đợc nói: I am knowing ..)
3. Cách sử dụng của các tính từ chỉ lợng bất định:
a. little/ a little; few/ a few (một ít, một vài):
- little/ a little dùng trớc danh từ không đếm đợc: little rice ( ít gạo); a little sugar (ít
đờng) .
- few/ a few dùng trớc danh từ đếm đợc số nhiều: few apples( vài quả táo);
a few friends (vài ngời bạn) .

b. many, much, a lot of, lots of ( nhiều):
b1. many; much: many dùng trớc danh từ đếm đợc số nhiều, much dùng tr-
ớc danh từ không đếm đợc: many books ( nhiều quyển sách); much milk ( nhiều
sữa)
b2. a lot of, lots of : đợc dùng trớc cả hai loại danh từ đếm đợc số nhiều và không
đếm đợc: a lot of/lots of eggs ( nhiều trứng); a lot of/lots of salt ( nhiều muối) ..
