CHAPTER I: OVERVIEW OF THE COMPANY’S ORGANIZATION

1.1. Name and address of the Company

I practiced at Thao Dan Limited company that is located at 06 Pham Dinh Toai street,
Ngi Phu commune, Vinh city and established in 2009. Firstly it was at 119 Nguyen
Van Cu street, Vinh city but after it moved to Nghi Phu commune in 2013. Thao Dan
was certificated business registration No. 2901379267 on April 24 th, 2009 by Nghe An
Department of Planning and Investment.

Thao Dan Limited Company is a tourism business enterprise in domestic and
international. It is mainly in domestic and the accent countries: Laos, Cambodia,
Thailand, China.
1.2 Missions and Functions of the company
After more than five years of operation and business, Thao Dan Limited Company
affirmed step by step its position in tourism. The main functions and duties are
specialized business travel and many services as airline ticket outlet, transport of
passengers and goods, hotels and restaurants, outlet of selling, buying and depositing
goods and other services.
The company's staff was learned, trained and they have enough ability to meet
domestic and international customers’ requirement. Thao Dan Limited Company
always strictly implements the wage distribution rules, rewards.
With so many ways, the company has recruited high qualified and professional from
many different places. Along with it, the company consolidated internal unity,
expanded cooperation and established extensive relationships with businesses,
international and domestic travel agencies. This is also a premise for the company to

develop and expand its scale of business activities. Thao Dan Limited Company
fulfills the functions of its travel business. With the trend of service’s development
especially tourist services, the company has recruited highly qualified staff, invested in
organizing package tours , exploited in tourism business. This is considered as the
early development period of domestic and international travel of Thao Dan Limited
Company.
As a business enterprise, independent accounting, having legal status, having civil
rights and obligations prescribed by law, operating under the Enterprise Law and the

Company’s charter to the company’s policy is always improving the management,
ensuring the quality, timely, and high level of safety for each work.

General Director: who directly leads and controls the company, represents for
the rights and obligations of the whole company before state and law.
Manger Director: He directly manages the departments as: financial
-accounting office, airline ticket office and manages operating office through the
Deputy Director.
Deputy Director: who receives the direct guidance of the director
and processes the decisions in the assigned fields, reports to the manager, directly
manages operating office and all parts: tour guide, outbounds, dosmetic tourism,
market and transportation. At the same time, he also acts as a counselor for the director
about general development activities.

Marketing Department: organizes and conducts researching activities in the
domestic and international tourism market , conducts propaganda activities, broadcasts
company’s brand, product marketing, introduces and sells the travel programs of the
company, attracts tourists to the company.
Who coordinates with the operating office, builds the travel program from the
content to price level in accordance with their needs and makes new intentions for the
Company's products.
Who signs a contract with the firms, the foreign travel companies, internal
and external organizations, individuals to exploit international tourists to Vietnam and
internal tourists.

Guide division: Bases on plans for tourists, the tour guide organizes, appoints

and arranges suitable tour guide for tourism programs.
Building, maintaining and developing a team of professional tour guides and
collaborators, training to make team of tour guides have professional skill and the best
quality career to meet the demand for the company's guidance.
1.4 Summary of the duties and the responsibilities performed by the intern
of the company.
I was very honor to practice at Thao Dan Limited Company. My major
internship in company was accountant and tour guide. I calculated the expenditure of a
tour such as ticket car, ticket visiting money for booking hotel or food after introduce
for the customers. When the tour came back, I had to account with the tour guide the
tour leader about money. In my internship process, I also was a tour guide for the
company in short tours. Besides, I was notified to accompany the delegation in some
short tours and some renting car contracts. Therefore, I learned a lot of practical
experiences.

CHAPTER II: PRACTICAL EXPERIENCES
2.1. What I have done
I practiced at Thao Dan Limited company from March 17 th, 2014 to April 14th,
2014. I took my duties at Accounting – Finance Department and Tour guide Division.
Firstly, I met Manager Director (Mr Thanh) then he talked to me about the
company such as the organization and activities of the company. After, he introduced
me for the staffs in the company. Therefore, I got the overall information and the detail
department of the company.
Furthermore, the manager director commissioned me in Accounting- Finance
Department. So the accountant, Miss Chung, directly guided me in work. I was learnt
especially how to do an accountant in the company. I worked as an accountant and
implement to draw the balance sheet with some short tours. When I do this work, I had
to implement step by step.
Firstly, I read and studied the schedule of some last tours. Then, I was learnt to
estimate about expenditure of a tour such as food, hotel, visiting ticket, car and

potential items in some previous tourism contracts.

Secondly, I received the detail information about tour such as Vinh- Dong Hoi
city- Thien Duong Cave- Vinh including 30 people of Nghi Loc III High School.
Thirdly, I started estimate this tour with two days and a night in detail for a
person such as breakfast, lunch and dinner expenditure (270.000/a person), tourism
insurance(10.000/a person), Thien Duong visiting ticket (145.000/ a person), hotel
(350.000/ a room), renting car ( 8.000000), tour guide expenditure (500.000).
Therefore, the total expenditure for this tour is 27.200.000 VND. The price of a person
travelling from Vinh- Dong Hoi city- Thien Duong cave- Vinh is 906.000 VND
including food, hotel, ticket , insurance and car.
Next, Basing on the articles in the contract, I made the insurance tourism for the
tour by sending the customer list to AAA insurance company and then receiving
tourism insurance through fax.
Finally, Basing on the articles in the contract, I calculated money with tour
guide including advance items of the company and the mission.
Besides, I also work as a tour guide in my internship process at the company. I
joined some short tours such as Thanh Chuong- Tran temple in Nam Dinh- Hung
Temple- Thanh Chuong:
Day 1: Thanh Chuong- Tran Temple
-At 5:30 am: The guide picked up customer at Thanh Chuong
- At 6:00 am: had buffer at Muong Thanh hotel in Dien Chau District. When
the car started going along Thanh Hoa Province and Ninh Binh, the guide organized
some puzzles and talked some famous places in Thanh Hoa such as Ca Than stream,
Bai Dinh Pagoda and some famous foods.
- At 12: 00 am: Had lunch at Trang An Restaurant in Ninh Binh City.
- At 13:00 pm: We started to go Tran temple. In the way, the guide talked some
famous villages in Nam Dinh.

- At 14:30 pm.: We arrived Tran Temple. The guide talked about Tran temple
and then the customers visited freely.
- At 18:30pm: We arrived at Sinh Thai hotel in Viet Tri city, Phu Tho Province.
The guide checked room and then we had dinner at hotel. In the evening, the tourists
visited freely in Viet Tri city.
Day 2: Hung temple- Thanh Chuong
At 6:30 am: Had breakfast at hotel.

-At 7:30 am: We arrived to Hung Temple. The guide leads the mission to Ha
temple, Trung temple, Thuong Temple and Hung king Tomb. In each place, the guide
talked about that place.
-At 11:30 am: We came back Sinh Thai hotel and had lunch there. The guide
checked out and the mission came back Thanh Chuong- Nghe An
-At 7:00 pm: We had dinner at Cay Dua Restaurant in Nghia Dan district.
-At 10:00 pm: We returned the tourists in Thanh Chuong province.
Furthermore, I was also learnt to design travel tours for the company. So
sometimes, I designed some short tours such as Vinh- Ha Long- Mong Cai- Tam Dao.
It could help the company advertise in website for the foreign people.

2.2 New skills acquired and skills improved
I improved a lot of skills in my internship process at Thao Dan Limited
Company.
Firstly, I improved my communication skill. This skill is very important. It is
consider as the major premise to develop other skills. The communication skill
combines a set of skills including nonverbal communication, attentive listening, the
ability to manage stress in the moment, and the capacity to recognize and understand
my own emotions and those of the person I’m communicating with. The

communication skill helps me better understand a person or situation and enables us to
resolve differences, build trust and respect, and create environments where creative
ideas, problem solving. . By learning the communication skills, I can better connect
with my tourists and coworkers.
Secondly, I improved the teamwork skill. When I practiced at the company, I
worked with Accounting- Finance Department and Tour guide division. So I had to
work effectively with others on a common task; take actions which respect the needs
and contributions of others; give the best solution to achieve the objectives of the
team. For example, I worked with accountant to choose the best hotel for the tour
about price and quality. We gave the different ideas but finally, we had to choose the
hotel that is suitable with tourist and create the prestige for tourists.
Besides, I improved the speaking public skill. When I met the tourists, I had to
be more confident and had a strong voice that every people could hear clearly. So I
improve my voice and speaking ability in public. I was guided a lots about how to
speak and use language smoothly and fluently when I became a tour guide.
Furthermore, I also improve the time manage skill. When I became a tour
guide, I had to manage well the time of the tour itinerary. I was learnt how to organize

my time, I knew when I should spend little or much time talking in the itinerary. I
improved managing time of the tourists during the itinerary in order to prevent the
broken tour.
Moreover, I also improved the translating skill: this is an important skill when I
translated some tours from Vietnamese to English. I could apply the translation theory
for translating. Besides, I learn many culture, famous tourism places and food in each
area. So my background knowledge was improved a lots.
2.3. Management techniques observed
In my internship process, I learnt the management skill from my manager
director in the company. Each employee had different way of working and the

different working schedule. The manager director manages their employee through
their own working schedule. He combined between the strict and close character to
manage his employee. Besides, the strict management in working, he is also very close
with the staffs and especially new employee and internship students. When having any
difficulty, he’s ready to help enthusiastically. Through the employee management, I
realized that the company had the sustainable development depending on the good
management skill. So I gained management experience in fact.
Moreover, accounting management skills are what I learnt from the financial –
accounting department of the company. The accounting management requires a careful
working. If we had a mistake in accounting management, it could cause the damages
for the company. In fact, I had a lot of experiences in management techniques. They
will help me a lots in my work in the future.
2.4. Classroom skills employed
Through my internship, I had the practical working experiences under guidance
of experienced tour guides in the company.
First of all, I applied what I have learned in the lecture at Vinh University to
work. I applied such skills as reading and writing. In fact, I read many documents and
translated many travel contracts.
Besides, I applied the knowledge about tourism (English for tourism). I used to
learn about the feature of famous travel place in Viet Nam as well as in other countries
and how to solve some problems in traveling. So it is very useful with a tour guide as
me. It provided me a lot of knowledge about tourism.
Moreover, I applied the knowledge about Cross Cultural Communication which
I learnt in Vinh University before. Understanding Vietnamese and English culture, I
easily interpreted the things relating to two nations' culture.

I also applied the knowledge about Contrastive analysis Linguistic which I

learnt in Vinh University before. Basing on the knowledge in Contrastive analysis
Linguistic I could translate travel contracts more easily as I could know the difference
between two languages. So I would choose the suitable structure in translating.
Furthermore, I also applied the knowledge about General Information
Technology which I learnt at Vinh University. Thank to this subject I could use
computer skillfully when I accounted in computer. My work could be finished
efficiently.
I also applied public speaking skill. It is very important in interpreting and other
fields. We should be confident and have strong voice, good preparation, clear purpose,
time allowance, body language.
Finally, I applied my note taking skill. I should have short-term memory. I also
should use a note taking which is suitable to me and use signs, symbols, abbreviations
and keywords.
2.5. Problem encountered
I worked at Thao Dan Limited Company. I had many difficulties in my
internship period.
First of all, I had to work in a complex group. It was very difficult to finish
working. It’s the first time to work in company so it took much time to get the
acquaintance with the staffs and working in the company.
Secondly, I had difficulties in lacking of new words belonging to tourism. In
fact, I had to surf internet about each place very much when I became a tour guide. I
had to read a lot of documents and newspaper that wrote about tourism. Besides, I had
to learn more languages and actions of a tour guide. There are many problems
occurring in itinerary that acquired many skills to solve.
Thirdly, I did not have many opportunities to work. Because there were not
many tours in my internship process. Almost my time was spending to get information
and experiences.
To sum up, I had many difficulties in internship period. I promise by myself
that I will study harder to obtain my objectives in translation and interpreting.
2.6. Lesson learned

Being an internship student, I gained following lessons which will be valuable
for me in the future job:
First of all, I was taught that tour guide should select suitable language to
introduce and explain to visitors about the cultural heritage and nature of a particular

region which were recognized by authority. If you want to be an experienced tour
guide, I should create many opportunities to demonstrate my capabilities.
Secondly, I was taught that the accountant needs the high accuracy in working
and everything needs clearly. If you want to be a good accountant, you had to have the
knowledge about business taxes to bring the highest benefit for the company.
Becoming a professional tour guide, you had to have a lot of important factors.
The first thing is proficiency in foreign languages, especially having speaking many
languages. The second thing is perseverance, hard work and always gets along with
everyone. The third thing is showing you are a knowledgeable people to create the
trusting of visitor in you. However, tour guide is not easy. Especially if you want to be
a professional tour guide, you should adjust to your work much. Besides, you should
be decisive. Being decisive would mean having the ability to firmly decide with speed
and clarity. Although there are risks for decisions, the most important thing is to learn
from it and to avoid doing the same thing all over again.
Besides knowledge and skills as mentioned above, you need to have good
health. You have to go to many places with different weather. If you do not have a
good stamina, you will not be able to continue your work.
Finally, I had many experiences about the sides in tourism. You should have
many new words in all fields. Moreover, you should take care yourself to ensure
having a good health. It will help you finish your work well.

CHAPTER III: CONCLUSION
In the internship process at the company, I have learned many useful things that
I have ever known before.
First of all, I learned how to talk and work with tourists through guidance of
leader of tour guide division. I had to have different behaviors to work effectively and
become a good tour guide.
Secondly, I learned how to work as an accountant. I knew the difficulties and
hardships that they endured to achieve success.
Thirdly, Academic programs in university were useful for us. We could apply
the theory for the practice in life. It helped me a lots in my internship process and my
job in the future.
Fourthly, I knew how to use suitable languages to translate tour information for
the foreign people and design some short tours.
Fifthly, I had many useful experiences in management technique. I also
broadened my knowledge about tourism, politics, culture, society.
Finally, I had some practical working experiences under guidance of
experienced tour guides and managers and knew how to be successful in translation.
In conclusion, this internship process was very useful for me. It helped me
understand more about tourism and tour guides’ works.

CHAPTER IV: RECOMMENDATIONS
I am very honor to be a student of the Department of Foreign Languages Vinh University.
There are some suggestions to Foreign Languages Department as well as the
University in training students and final-year students before internship.
First of all Foreign Languages Department should invite some successful exstudents to hold a meeting and they can help students who start internship in some
ways.

Secondly, Foreign Languages Department can contact with some companies
and introduce groups of students to practice there; therefore, Foreign Languages.
Department can be easy to manage and estimate the process of students.
Thirdly, I wish that the University create more internship semesters for
students.
Finally, before internship, students need to prepare all the knowledge and
useful skills which served in working in the internship period.

THE TRIP

VINH- BAI DINH- HA LONG

HAVE LUNCH, DINNER

In the morning, tour guide picks up the mission going to
Ha Long. When the tour arrives at Ninh Binh, tourists
will visit at Bai Dinh Pagoda which is considered as the
biggest pagoda in Viet Nam. It has 500 precious stone
statues. The total area of pagoda reaches 8000m3
including many precious species. Especially, There are
two biggest bells in the South Asian.
After visiting, the tour will have lunch at Trang An
restaurant with the special food: Com Chay.
In the afternoon, The travel mission goes to Ha Long
and checks room at Plaza Ha Long hotel and has diner
at t hotel’s restaurant.
In the evening: tour guide takes the tourists to visit the
international tourist area of Tuan Chau island. There are
many interesting perform such as elephant, dolphin and
lion circuses that is controlled by Russian artists. The
tourist can enjoy some traditional song.

DAY 2

HAVE BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND

In the morning. The tourists will visit Ha Long Bay by
boat in some cave, grottoes, mounts such as Thien Cung
cave, Me Cung cave Dau Go grotto, Trinh Nu grotto, Ga
Choi Mount, Lion Mount and some famous fishing
villages. After, The travel tour has lunch at boat and
enjoys the overall landscape bay.
In the afternoon, the travel mission starts going to
Mong Cai.
At about 17:00, we arrive at Mong Cai and receive room
at Viet Thai hotel.
The travel mission has diner at hotel’s restaurant.
In the evening: the tourist visit free in Mong Cai city at Ha Long Bay

DAY 3

HAE HAVEBREAKFAST, LUNCH
AND DINNER.

In the morning: the tourists visit and go shopping at
Mong Cai Market Centre. We can buy some clothes for
our friends and relative. After, the travel mission comes

back Ha Long and has lunch at Ha Long City.

In the afternoon: We start going to Tam Dao- Vinh phuc
province.
We will have dinner at restaurant and receive room to
stay overnight.
In the afternoon, the tourist will visit free at night.

TAM DAO – VINH

DAY 4

HAVE BREAKFAST AND LUNCH

In the morning, after having breakfast at hotel, the
tourists will walk to the top of Thien Nhi Mountain with
1400 stone steps. We continue visiting Tam Dao, Bac
stream and taking part in many activities at Tam Dao
tourist area. Then, the travel mission starts coming back
Vinh city.
We have lunch in Ha Noi.
In the afternoon, the travel mission comes back Vinh
city.
In the afternoon, the tour guide gives the tourists back.
Finishing the itinerary- Seeing the tourists a gain.
