By the end of the lesson , Ss will be able to get further information about celebrations in the world , then practice reading comprehension skill for details to complete a table. II. PREPARATION: Textbook, cassette, pictures, posters III. PROCEDURE:. TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES. STUDENTS’ ACTIVITIES. 1/ Warm up : (7’) Getting started - Hang on the pictures and introduce the celebrations. - Tell Ss to work with a partner to match the icons with the names of the celebration they represent .. - Observe and listen. - Match the correct pictures with their number. 1. Easter 2. Wedding 3. Birthday 4. Christmas 5. Mid-Autumn Festival 6. Lunar new year .. 2/ Presentation: (12’)  Activity 1: Pre-teach vocabulary - Introduce the topic of the passage reading and some new words to Ss. I. Vocabulary : 1. Sticky rice cake (n) : traditional Chung cake . 2. Passover (n) : le qua hai 3. Israel (n) (translate ) ->Jewish (a) -> Jewish people 4. Occur (v) = happen / take place 5. Live apart (v) = Far way 6. They are Lunar New Year , Passover and Easter . Activity 3: Grid - Have Ss read the passage about celebrations in Vietnam and other countries. - Divide class into 3 group to complete the table. - Ask Ss to present their feedback. PREPARATION: Textbook, cassette, pictures III. PROCEDURE:. TEACHER’S ACTIVITIES 1/ Warm up: (8’) - Let Ss listen the song, then introduce the song Auld Lang Syne(old coltish song/the best known song in English speaking countries) Auld = old lang = long syne = since Auld Lang Syne = the good old days - Introduce some words 1. Acquaintance : old friend 2.
