Objectives: -After the lesson, students are able to: Pronounce correctly the sound of the letters “ th ” Ss look after , solve problems and study themselves.Studious and obedient students and love their friends. -Skills: Listening, speaking. II - Language contents : - Vocabulary: Tall-taller, short-shorter, big-bigger, old-older, young-younger. - Grammar: - Who is shorter( the father or mother)? +The mother is shorter than father. - Phonics: the letters “ th”. III - Teaching aids: 1. Teacher’s: student’s and teacher’s book, pictures, cassette. 2. Students’s: books, notebooks, workbooks. IV - Teaching procedure: 1. Check attendance: - Greeting. - Checking for the students' attendance. - Have pupils asking and answering about months in a year. 2. Review the lesson: - Have Ss play the game: Slap the board 3. Warm up: - Have Ss play the game: Slap the board Tall-taller, short-shorter, bigbigger, old-older, young-younger. II. New leson: 1.Listen and repeat. -Tell pupils that they are going to practise saying the sounds of the letters th respectively. -Play the recording and ask pupils to repeat a few times. -Put the letters “th”. and the sentences - This is my mother -That is my father on the board. - Play the recording a few more times and let pupils say the sentences, paying attention to the target sounds. 2.Listen and tick.Then write and say aloud - Ss look at the sentences, read and guess the words to tick . - Listen to the tape 2 times & tick. Check their guess. Compare the answer with the partner.. -Work in groups to play the game. Tall-taller, short-shorter, big-bigger, old-older, young-younger. -Ss read all words -Individual. -Work in pairs. - Listen. Then listen and repeat. - Look at the board and catch - This is my mother -That is my father -Copy -Ss learn to produce the sound of the letters “th” . - Listen and repeat each line of the text in chorus. - Read in groups./ in pairs. Then ask them to read the text to find the appropriate information (what Linda did in the morning, in the afternoon and in the evening) to complete the sentences. Get pupils to work in pairs or groups, if necessary. - Give pupils time to do the task independently. Go around offering help, if necessary. - Get them to swap their answers before checking as a class. If there is enough time, let some pairs ask and answer the questions about what Linda did. 2.5.Write. - Tell pupils that they are going to write a short paragraph about themselves. - Have them work in pairs or groups to discuss what they did yesterday. Focus pupils on what they did in the morning, afternoon and evening. Check comprehension. - Pupils look at the book on the P29. Read the sentences and write about their family. When pupils finish interviewing, ask them to report to the class about their partners' weekend. To make this activity more challenging, you may ask them not to look at the notes.
