<b>-</b> (book closed) Tell the students that it’s story time.
<b>-</b> Ask them if they remember the previous story. If
not, the teacher can spend some time going
through it.
<b>-</b> Prepare phonics cards of these word: watch, yo-yo,
<i>box, van, zebra</i>
<b>-</b> Ask the students to read out the words
<b>-</b> Invite students to guess what they think the story is
about.
<b>-</b> Ask the students to look at the book.
<b>-</b> Ask them questions about what they can see in the
pictures
<i>e.g. Teacher: (pointing to the ox in picture 1) </i>

aloud.

Say incomplete sentences from the story and ask
individual students complete them

<b>2. Activity 2(8 mins)</b>
<b>-</b> Point and elicit the items.
<b>-</b> Ask the students to choose the correct item and
draw it in the box.
<b>-</b> Explain to them that they can use any colour they
like to colour the item.`
<b>Activity 1: Act Out (6 mins) </b>
<b>-</b> Read the sentences in the story, pause at the key
words and invite the students to mime them (the
watch, the yo-yo, the box, the van, the zebra).
<b>-</b> Have the students come to the front of the
classroom and act out the story
<b>-</b> Encourage them to have fun as they perform
<b>Activity 2: Optional Story Time Activities (6 </b>

picture cards

<b>-</b> The students listen and circle the correct picture
<b>-</b> Listen again, pause and ask the students to repeat the
item they hear.
<b>Activity: Run and Touch (7 mins) </b>
<b>-</b> Divide the class into two teams, A and B, make 2 lines
<b>-</b> Put up the phonics cards (from part 4) on the board.
<b>-</b> Say the word. Two students, one from each team, race
to touch the cards.
